I keep watching because I love this game they call BASKETBALL. I also watch because I want to see Steve mature, I want to see Cat mature. I want to see if their games grow with each contest or do they revert backwards? I watch to see if Steve will have what it takes to become a superstar or will he be just another good basketball player. I watch because I like rooting for the underdog. To see a second round pick in Cuttino blossom into one of the league's best keeps me watching. To see a Kenny Thomas expand his game when a lot of folks said he couldnt make in the big leagues keeps me watching. The "potential and upside" of Eddie Griffin keeps me watching. Also getting everyone back healthy next year keeps me watching. Will Rudy be the first coach to win championships with the same team in different eras? That keeps me watching. Will Rudy ever get rid of the 3 guard lineup at the end of every game? That keeps me watching. I watch the Rockets because of all the drama and you know what, it is almost theraputic to watch them in evening after a long days work and giving the kids their baths and dinner because I get to release some stress by yelling and screaming at the T.V. because of moochie dribbling forever or because of Cat taking a stupid shot. I watch the them cause I eat, sleep and drink to the Rockets.
1. The development of Eddie Griffin 2. The emergence of Kenny Thomas 3. The production of Cuttino Mobley 4. The maturation of Kelvin Cato 5. Oscar Torres 6. Steve Francis 7. Terrence Morris 8. Tierre Brown I want to see how all these guys along with Glenn Rice and Maurice Taylor will play together as a team next year. I also want to see if we have any quitters, so far it doesn't look like it
watching is awful.. i see almost every play sucks hard.. iso's that carol promised cat so hed stay here francis being hammered everytime to basket no defense no breaks only steve dunks with authority ...i never liked any of rudys games, but its fun when they win..not this year though im rooting for the top 3 pick,so lose damn it
I watch the Rockets simply because I feel that they have a great foundation for the future, and a good managment team with Rudy, CD, and Les who always are willing to put us in a great position to win. Is their Sales/Marketing department hiring, because they need to do a complete overhaul on that entire dept. Free Beer coupon to the first 10,000 fans would be my promo.
I watch just to be gleeful. I am so bad predicting everything, except that on the "Rockets will keep sucking until RT's ass is out ". It is kind of nice to be proven right. Next year Rockets will still be terrible(Not making playoffs), even if Rockets get a good draft pick. I will keep watching.
the real reason i watch is becuz thats when my spouse comes home and she doesnt want me to watch p*rn(i do when shes gone),so being that i have no play boy channel,no basketball package,im stuck with rockets. ive been here all my life i just cant like nother team more.i d however think for entertainment value, clippers, lakers, seattle, kings, dallas, timberwolves, wizards, nets, orlando all more fun to watch//so i cant believe dick ebersal actually said we are the most entertaining team ...whats he on?
living in dallas as a poor musician with no money for extravagances like cable television and with no trendy hot spot like Aussie's and no hip group of fellow Rocket in-group types [a la the austin crew] to watch games with. . . I haven't seen a game all year. but I can tell you what I wish I was getting to watch. it's simple really. 2 things: 1) the rising arch of steve francis' career 2) the rising arch of eddie griffin's career the most compelling reason I'd have to watch a Rockets game would be just to see what those two do on any given night. to me, I can still "win" just from watching steve break somebody's ankles or by watching griff toss somebody's mess into the 15th row. that keeps me going when I feel like it could potentially be a long time before the Houston Rockets are a for-real contender.
people please read my signature...long time before we are a contender? if you really think that ,then steve must be also, whyd he stay then? simple...LOSE=TOP3=AMARE=DYNESTY AMARE/EDDIE/CAT/STEVE=FINALS
simple....LOSE=LOSE TOP PLAYERS TO TRADES/FA=LOTTERY EVERY SEASON=GOLDEN STATE Amare is NOT THAT GOOD.
Well, I live in Florida and am much too cheap/frugal/dead-frickin-broke to buy League Pass, so I can only answer the bit about what keeps me reading and visiting this BBS several times a day. I come here to read detailed analysis of the games so I can get an idea of how the Rocks (both as a team and as individual players) are improving and/or regressing. I come here to read unique well constructed thought-provoking posts hidden amongst reactionary "you're stupid" and "you're not a real fan" posts. I come here to read posts by the many posters that are able to see both sides of a argument and refuse to be polarized by the much more numerous posters that like to lable them as apologists/hatas. I come here to read the sometimes controversial (e.g. someone having the "audacity" to suggest trading Francis) though realistic trade proposals hidden between suggestions of "let's trade Dan Langhi and the towel boy for Shaq. We'll throw in Glen Rice and Cato as cap filler." I come here to read detailed analyses of how other fans would select offensive sets, order the rotations, and choose defensive strategies hidden amongts the "Fire Rudy" threads. In short, I come here several times a day, because I can't watch the games. So, in spite of how poorly the Rocks may be playing . . . In spite of how painful it may be for some of you to see them make the same mistakes over and over . . . In spite of how much it may disgust you to see an overpaid player not earn his salary . . . You should still count yourselves lucky that you do get to watch the games.
Welcome back, tod. I choose to pay attention to the Rockets, because I am a fan! The Rockets have been my team since 1979 when I used to stay up late at night as 9 year old with a radio under my pillow listening to Gene Peterson do the pbp. I used to listen to the Astros game the same way hoping to not get busted by my mom & dad for staying up late. I remember I used to stay in the bathroom to listen to the radio so I wouldn't get caught. My mom began getting worried about my 2 hour long bathroom uh, retreats. The Oilers have since gone, the Astros... well, I think baseball sucks to holy Hell now. The Rockets - they've been there all along. I couldn't stop following the Rockets even if they were the worst team in the league. It's tradition. They're my team. Woo hoo!
Well for one thing I'm fiercely loyal to hometown sports, so I will always be a huge Rockets/Astros fan. (and I guess now the Texans) I really really hate bandwagon fans, and I'm glad in a way that all the bandwagon people from the championships have pretty much died out completely in Houston. So I would watch and keep up with the team no matter what. But I do put the Rockets on a higher pedistal than the Astros now. 1. Cause basketball is my favorite sport, I can't get enough of the NBA. 2. I'm heavily into fantasy basketball this season. My team is in first place now, and I'm in a very good league, so I'm pretty happy with that. 3. I am enjoying the emergence of Francis for one, but also Griffin and Mobley as they establish a name for themselves. This season is mostly Griffin for me, it's exciting to see his potential, and what he has already done.
DIEHARD FANATIC I may not be able to catch every game, but if I'm on the net during a game, I'll follow along with the Chat. One of the downsides to working in North Austin. Go Rockets!
I'm watching the games now to see potential, and hope that it will all come together with a healthy team and steady improvemnet by our players. Sometimes it's hard, but I think watching now only makes me appreciate the games the Rockets do play well, even more.
I love watching how players develop. That's why I constantly (every game) read recaps and boxscores of young, bad teams. See who stands out. I'd rather see T-Mo get 10pts, 2 stleals than Steve get 20. At this point, we ain't winning. So that's what I like to see, improvement.
I love the Rockets. I love the excitement I feel during a good game. I love the euphoric feeling following a victory. No matter how bleak the standings, I just love to watch the Rockets. My criticisms are a result of the extreme pain I feel when they lose. They could be the number one seed by 10 games, and any loss would still send me into a depression. I am addicted to this team, and I will continue to follow this team in die-hard fashion until they win another title.
I started watching the Rockets when Carl Herrera played there. Before that, the only thing I knew about NBA was the Lakers, Bulls, Magic and Jordan. So I started rooting for Herrera in his first two years, and suddenly, at some point, I start getting happy with every Rockets win, and frustrated when Rockets lose. Then, the two championships. That´s was amazing, and having the chance to see one of the top players in the history of the game, in his prime, I think that´s a chance not everybody has. And then Drexler. And Barkley. When Herrera went to San Antonio, I keep rooting for him, but definitely, I was (and still I´m) a Rockets fan. That being said, the first reason because I still pay attention is because I love the Rockets. I have a "mini-version" of League Pass, but here they only have two games per day. Every day I go home, first thing I do is check if they have Rockets game that night. That only happen like 2-3 times in a month, and it´s really frustrating. Next day after Rockets game, the first thing I do is came here and see the results. The second reason is Oscar Torres. He´s only the second Venezuelan player in the NBA, and you don´t realize how happy I was when they announced that he was going to play with the Rockets!!!. That was just amazing. Third, the chance to see a player like Steve Francis is something you don´t have every day. He´s going to be a superstar. And Eddie, not always you see the development of a potential star. We are fortunate for that. All teams in sports has bad years. The interesting is see how you reconstruct your team to compete again. And it´s nice when after those years of frustation, you see the result of your effort. Believe me. Trust in the Rockets.
