you totally missed the point of this thread. Like Jeremy Lin airball vs Miami missed. You know what? the last years of Kenny Smith's career in Houston? I noticed no reply to the Kenny Smith/ Otis Thorpe pick and roll comment therefore proving YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about that era of basketball Kenny increased jacking up 3s in 95 cause the line got moved in. He was not know to be a jacker with his low 1.7 3PA at the beginning of his Rockets career. He had great quickness.
Season Age Tm Lg Pos G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 1990-91 25 HOU NBA PG 78 78 34.6 6.7 12.9 .520 0.6 1.7 .363 3.7 4.4 .844 0.5 1.6 2.1 7.1 1.4 0.1 3.0 1.7 17.7 1991-92 26 HOU NBA PG 81 80 33.8 5.3 11.2 .475 0.7 1.7 .394 2.7 3.1 .866 0.4 1.8 2.2 6.9 1.3 0.1 2.8 1.4 14.0 1992-93 27 HOU NBA PG 82 82 29.5 4.7 9.1 .520 1.2 2.7 .438 2.4 2.7 .878 0.3 1.6 2.0 5.4 1.0 0.1 2.0 1.3 13.0 1993-94 28 HOU NBA PG 78 78 28.3 4.4 9.1 .480 1.1 2.8 .405 1.7 2.0 .871 0.3 1.5 1.8 4.2 0.8 0.1 1.6 1.6 11.6 1994-95 29 HOU NBA PG 81 81 25.1 3.5 7.3 .484 1.8 4.1 .429 1.6 1.8 .851 0.3 1.6 1.9 4.0 0.9 0.1 1.5 1.3 10.4 1995-96 30 HOU NBA PG 68 56 23.8 3.0 6.8 .433 1.3 3.5 .382 1.3 1.6 .821 0.3 1.1 1.4 3.6 0.7 0.0 1.5 1.7 8.5 Career NBA 737 650 30.1 4.8 10.0 .480 0.9 2.3 .399 2.3 2.7 .829 0.4 1.6 2.0 5.5 1.0 0.1 2.2 1.6 12.8

Kenny Smith played with Vernon Maxwell who also handled the ball. In the birth year of Clutch City, it was Vernon Maxwell who led the Rockets in assists. This is a good analogy, it's only a bad analogy for those who don't know their history.
you dont have a point. they are two different players in two different systems. What is he gonna learn from kenny? how to shoot 7-11 from 3 and scoring 23 pts working off a proven nba system of inside out to a back to the basket big man like hakeem? yeaaa totally comparable to harden iso ball and mcfail's system. oits thopre pick and roll? how can he learn from that when 4s are our biggest weakness? we dont have no 4s anywhere near thorpe's caliber and rudy t's system is not mcfail's system. I know all about clutch city i grew up in it.
kenny the jet rodriguez! for all the talk about lin, how long has it been since we had a 1000 pts and 500 assist pg? stevies last year with the team? and before that, a young kenny smith, way before nba jam. having a hall of famer at center or at the four would make things easy right now.
it wasn't just kenny in game 1, Horry was on fire from 3 also. What an amazing game. I just watched it the other week. Gonna watch it again right now. I have the whole series. Trying to find that entire playoff run. 95 was amazing.
Ha Ha Kenny Smith was trash until he hooked up with the Rockets and Hakeem. And returned to trash after he left. Hakeem made Kenny in every way. He should send half of his paycheck to Hakeem every week. Without the Rockets he would be a no name nothing who had a decent college career. He might be doing North Carolina games but that is about it.
We have Bev. Our players will be few years development before they can close the gap to 95 group. Some may not be possible.
Thank you. Old Man Rock had lost his mind. See? Kenny still gets criticized! and that's after 2 championships!
get used to this, this tin fellow thinks that anyone who isnt a '99er doesnt know anything about the rockets prior to their join dates.. hes not the only one that acts like this..
not true. it was suspicious because those who know kenny smith from the first game to the last as a Rocket knows that was just a 3 point jacker. he was leader, he knew when to pass, when to shoot, he very few turnovers. a fan from that era remembers when the OT/Kenny Smith pick and roll was unstoppable that year Don Chaney won coach of the year. a fan from that era, knew that Kenny did get criticism and had to play with Scottie Brooks and Sam Cassell getting some decent backup minutes. the 99ers are my brothers. we have clutch city in our hearts. not saying there are no others with clutch city in our hearts, i'm just saying that I know that all these people have it in their hearts.

you get it! it's about the believing in yourself and your teammates like Kenny did. No matter if it was John Stockton, Kevin Johnson, or Penny Hardaway, Kenny still shined. That's the meaning of Clutch City and if Lin has Clutch City in his heart, he will shine too!
