Rights for Homosexuals - For, everyone should have equial rights

Gun Control - Definitely for it

    Abortion - Tough one...Pro-Choice

    Capital Punishment - Definitely against.

Homosexual Rights - Hmm...I would have to ask what kind of rights. For insurance, taxation, etc...I think that they should be recognized as partners. But, for a child in this day and age, I believe that it would be hell to be raised by homosexual parents. Not nessicarily in the home, but definitely outside of it.

    Foreign policy - For involvement

Prayer in school - Against the "Organized Prayer time". One can pray whenever he or she feels like it. We do not need a moment of silence, IMO.

    Gun Control - For It

    Abortion - Pro Life

Prayer in school - This is tough, I think kids should have a voluntary silent time in which they can pray to their God or if they are not inclined to do so they can sit silently.

Rights for Homosexuals - not sure where I stand on this.

Taxation - since it`s the 15th, it`s not a good time for me to answer this . I am 36, single make a decent living and I pay for more than my share.

Capital Punishment - as is stands today I am againist it.

All due respect, bad analogy. A homosexual with a good job and heart would raise a child better than a drug user. Drugs are a variable that shouldn't be around children.

    Abortion -pro choice
    gun control - for it
gay rights- they should be able to do whatever heterosexuals do. Full rights.
capital punishment -tough one. I guess I'm for it.
school prayer -shouldn't be mandatory, but it should be allowed.

Gun Control -- Definitely, for it!

    Abortion -- Ughh...Pro-choice...I guess...grudgingly

Prayer in school -- No! I can't believe this is even an issue.

    Rights for Homosexuals -- Sure.

Foreign Policy Involvement -- Yes, but very small.

Taxation -- You know, the whole "neccesary evil" thing.

Capital Punishment -- Only way for me to judge this to put myself in the shoes of family member or friend of a victim. And when I do that, YES I am for it.

Expos -- They should become the Washington Senators. :D I can only hope.

Gun Control - Reasonable gun control is a good thing. I have no problem registering my firearms & having to take some sort of instructional/safety type class as a prerequisite for ownership (we do it w/ cars, right?). There are some types of weapons that should not be owned by private citizens - assault weapons, sawed-off shotguns, etc.... The Justice Dept/ATF should devote the necessary resources to prosecute firearms violations under existing federal law (i.e. Project Exile in Richmond, VA); the effect on crime levels would be staggering.

Abortion - In theory I'm pro-life, but understand why abortions are so prevalent in our society. I'd like to see the anti-abortion groups focus more on promoting adoption as an alternative.

Prayer in School - Agree on the "silent meditation".

Foreign Policy - The U.S. has a vital role in the world as it's lone true economic/military/cultural superpower. We have a vested interest in peace & prosperity throughout the world, and our foreign policy should promote democracy & free markets. However, it's hard to make blanket rules to cover all situations & we must look at all relationships/situations individually & act accordingly.

Rights for Homosexuals - What consenting adults choose to do in private is of no concern to me. Homosexuals should not be discriminated against in employment, education, health care, etc..., just like everyone else. Homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt (given they submit to the same vigorous screening process that hetero couples do), but priority should be given to straight couples.

Taxation - My modest proposal to fix the federal tax system: Institute a national consumption (sales) tax on goods that are currently taxed at the state level. Exempt nothing. At the end of the year, calculate/estimate how much someone living at the poverty line spent on federal tax that year & send a rebate for that amount to every adult in the country.

Capital Punishment - Against. Life w/out parole is, in my mind, a much harsher punishment than an early death. Also, studies have repeatedly shown that it is more expensive to execute someone than to lock them up for life.

Gun Control--Against it. Take the guns from law abiding citizens and only the criminal will have guns

    Abortion--Pro choice

    Prayer in school--Moment of silence

Rights for Homosexuals--They should follow the laws as they are written. If they can change the laws, then there won't be a problem.

Foreign Policy Involvement--I think it was the Truman Doctrice that said we will defend democracy all over the world when threatened.

Taxation--necessary evil. don't agree with breaks for high income. don't agree that child support is not tax deductible.

    Capital Punishment--for it.

    Gun control- for it.

Abortion- This one's hard for me. If I had to vote on it, I would probably vote pro choice. But the fact is, it's a damn waste to do it. Some of the most beautiful people in my life were born under circumstances in which they might have been aborted (young unmarried couple, unexpected pregnancy.) But in the end it is not for me to decide what another woman does.

    Prayer in school- Nope.

Rights for homosexuals- I think this needs some clarification; at least a couple of people are reading this as a 'special rights' issue. Most others are reading this as the right of homosexuals to be treated equal under law as human beings in this country. It should be mentioned that in most states and cities in this country, it is perfectly legal to deny a gay man or woman housing and employment, which is disgusting. I'm for gays being allowed to marry and adopt, too, but for starters let's at least catch up laws to the point that they are treated like human frikkin beings. If they don't deserve housing and employment, maybe they should just be rounded up into prisons. [end rant] However, I am against special rights.

Foreign policy- ugh, this one's hard. With power comes responsibility. We are easily the greatest superpower on the planet, and I want us to help those who suffer terrible injustice. And yet, where do we cross the line when we are only serving ourselves and interfering too much?

Taxation- I wish there was some way we could dramatically simplify the process and take out all the loopholes. It's okay by me that the wealthy pay a higher percentage than the poor- if (when) I'm wealthy some day, I'll do it, money isn't that damned important to me. Once you've gotten food and shelter and some toys you like, what more do you need?

Capital punishment- whoah, it's news to me that it's more expensive than life imprisonment! Jeff, somebody, could you elaborate on that? That changes my perspective some. Overall, I think the death sentence as it's used in our justice system presently is not useful. Too many innocents killed, and the appeals process is ridiculous. And I don't believe it prevents crime. However, I do feel that every now and then that the world would be a better place is some people could just be eliminated- but I think that's more of an issue of allowing assassinations in wartime, stuff like that.

    Gun Control - for it

    Abortion - pro-choice

Capital Punishment - used to be for it, now undecided.

Rights for Homosexuals - Equal Rights absolutely . Quite frankly, the views of some people on this board shock me.

U.S Foreign Policy - rather the US be the worlds policeman than someone else. Takes balls to be American.

Prayer in School - No. Can't think of a single good reason. Keep church and state separate.

Taxes - Obviously for it. There is no viable way for an economic society without them. Who will provide the roads, regulate the clean air, prevent freeloaders? Simplify simplify.

As I re-read the "Homosexual Rights" portion of my above post, I realized how horrible I sounded...I do not consider myself a homophobe and hope I never become one. Stranger's lifestyles are none of my business.

But, kids are mean people. No matter how wonderful a parent a homosexual could be, there would always be some wise-ass kid cracking jokes about so-and-so's parents.

...Just wanted to explain my stance, and did not mean to slander the parenting skills of anyone.

Gun Control - I think the real battle is getting black market guns off the streets.. but im all for gun control.

Abortion - It's the woman's body, it's the woman's choice. Wish bible humpers would stop terrorizing abortion clinics. A form of terrorism that needs to be dealt with as seriously as terrorists over seas.

Prayer In School - Hell no. They already spend enough time getting programmed to pass the TAAS test.

Capital Punishment - Eye for an eye. I don't believe that humans have the right to play as God. But the ones getting punished already tried to be god themselves.

Homosexuals - Sexual orientation isn't a choice.. just like the color of your skin. They should get equal rights in every way shape and form.

Homosexual Adoption Rights - All for it... all kids need is love and shelter... and many heterosexuals and homosexuals can offer both.

Foreign Policy - Isolationism got us no where in the past. Stay active and enforce freedom on the world.. they will thank us later.

Taxation - Robin Hood was a good man.. the rich should be hurt by taxes just as the poor are... I don't care how much they have to pay. Also, corporations need to be taxed more.

    Gun Control - For

Abortion - Pro-Choice, within reason (e.g. 6th month? forget it 3rd abortion? forget it, etc. )

School Prayer - Against organized prayer. If a child wants to pray, fine.

Capital Punishment - Strongly for...and strongly against.

Homosexuals - This is admittedly not a race or religion, but it IS a group of people who are regularly subjected to discrimination and prejudice, therefore they deserve specific protection under the law.
Re. marriage and adoption, I don't understand how they can be denied this right. If they can love each and love the children, what's the problem?

Foreign Policy - If we are going to do it, do it RIGHT. That means doing things that are not always in our best short-term interest (but will work our in our long-term interest).
Policeman? Only with consensus or as a moral leader (i.e. when everyone is too chickensh*t to do anything, e.g. pre-WWII).

Taxation - Only the very very very rich escape paying taxes; end that.
BTW, can somebody explain to me why we have to build toll-roads now when our tax dollars used to take care of everything?

National Health Care - A joke! We've seen $200 hammers at the Pentagon, can you imagine a $50 Q-tip?

Environment - Strongly against logging of old growth forests, esp. redwoods. Against drilling in ANWR (but if there is THAT much oil...hmmm). Also, leave the dolphins and whales alone.

Gun Control- For it. I think anybody who commits a crime should lose their right to own a gun, or at least not be allowed for a certain number of years depending on the severity of the crime. People who sell weapons illegaly should get minimum 40 year sentences. If you sell guns knowingly to minors, you should be put away for life.

Abortion- I'm pro choice but anti-abortion. I think we should make abortions obsolete. By that I mean we should push for people to use contraceptives, birth control, morning after pills, or if you don't trust any of those, then abstinence is the first and last line of defense. I think pro-choice means you should choose if you want to get pregnent. I don't like pro-lifers either cuz they are religious zealots. Blowing up abortion clinics? Jeez, what makes people who do or support that better than terrorist? That was a little harsh I admit, but I do think Pro-lifers should give in and push more for preventing unwanted pregnancys, as should Pro-choicers. There's nothing wrong with meeting in the middle.
Prayer in school- If a kid prayers in school before eating lunch, so what? But if Rick Perry showes up to your school and calls an assembly and has all the kids follow him in a Christian prayer while teachers patrol the isles to make sure the kids are praying, that is illegal. (Tony Sanchez baby!)

Rights for Homosexuals- People are born gay. So what's the big deal? If you believe it is a lifestyle choice, that means you probably had to face that choice at some point in your life. In my mind, you then are a closet homosexual. Take an anthropology class and get over it.
Foreign Policy Involvement- I think we need to step in when people are being masacred or denied human rights. We should prevent the stuff like the genocide that happned in Bosnia and in Rwanda. We should also help people who are oppressed by military regimes: Iraq, Burma.
Taxation- If the govt would spend wisely, taxes wouldn't be so high. I heard the Pentagon lost track of like 90 billion!
Capital Punishment-Against, our laws say no cruel or unusual punishment. If you are religious, you should know it's not our place to make those judgments or decisions. One innocent person being executed is one too many.
