I like where you're coming from, Jeff. Taking what works for you in your day to day life, from several different religions, is very appealing to an agnostic like me. I used to meditate a lot, did some yoga (not much... used to enjoy standing on my head, lol... and I know it's not a religion, but I swear I had revelations after half an hour upside down ), like the do unto others as you'd like done to you belief, and was affected by the writings of Gibran, and others, with an Eastern religious bent. It's fascinating stuff, and I take what I need from all I've been exposed to. I'm sure I've left a lot out. For me, it boils down to living a good life (subjective, I know), not being judgemental towards those who are religious (unless they are hypocites, and try to impose their beliefs on me), loving my family and friends as best I can, returning the love I get, being politically active, to try to make the world a better place, and to have a world where those who believe can practice as they wish, as long as they cause no harm to others. (that sentence is way too long!) Stuff like that... right now, that's as much as I can remember. (not getting enough sleep... sweetie out of town on business for several days, and my "routine," such as it is, is shot to hell) That would place me in "other."
Well I don't know. Considering that it's a poll in the Hangout which was put up on a Saturday and doesn't refer to any bodily functions, it's getting a pretty decent turnout.
I'm Mormon, so like Jeff said that would fall more under the "Christian - Other" category, since we're not Catholic and not Protestant by the strict definition. But since that wasn't an option, I voted for Christian - Protestant.
I'm an Episcopalian and I'm sitting here listening... no enjoying Denis Leary's "Asshoe" song. Would it bother the f*ck out of you veggies out there if we went to Heaven and you di-ent? .Just realize that in Heaven, you still have to deal with Fatty.
I voted Agnotisc, I grew up as a christian but got turned off it about three years ago. Now a days instead of organized religion i just read philosophy books (Stoicisim on particular. "Marcus Aureilus, Epictetus ). I believe there is a God i just dont believe how anyone can explain it well enough for me to believe a particular religon without getting past all its traditions.
My fiance's greek orthodox...i'm roman catholic. We're having two ceremonies. Its gonna be a looooooooong day.
