gamerankings. They have all the major(and not so major) reviews up, so I usually scan the lowest and highest scores or whatever site seems interesting. If the review seems like crap that doesn't tell much than I close it and move onto the next review til I find something useful.

That combined with gameplay footage is what I look for.

    gamefaq reviews are ****ing horrible.

Same here. It's convenient to have 20+ reviews all in one spot, and you can usually find both extremes to get a better feel for the games benefits and shortcomings.

I go to gamerankings.com. It gives the average of all the scores on the internet and magazines. You can also read gamer's reviews there.

99.9% of the time, i take my review from Fan forum and other competitive gamer. Game review is completely useless since majority of the Reviewer don't have a damn clue about the game and spend very little time playing it.

Also. unlike console game, PC gaming is completely differ, there is patches or mod that enhance the gaming experience. Game may suck during retail release week, but might not of the case later on.

PS. never take review from PC GAMER MAGAZINE seriously(they are more about $$$ then quality of the game).

u really need a review for pacman?

i understand getting reviews for NEW GAMES but for OLD ARCADE GAMES? this must mean :

    1. you never played the arcade game before
    2. you never played the arcade game before
    3. see 1 and 2

    does Galaga have spaceships?

Not really. If I had to guess, I'd imagine they're pretty small (relatively speaking), and don't quite have the manpower (or possibly even the bandwidth) to put out video reviews for more than just a few games during a certain period of time. Reminds me of how IGN and Gamespot will usually put out video reviews for only a few games, and some major games will be left out there as well, although at least there will be text reviews.

Just out of curiosity, do you know of a few examples of recent games they haven't reviewed? I noticed the same thing, but it seemed like they've gotten better in recent months (although they may be late on putting them out). I may be confusing video reviews from GS or IGN with their video reviews though.

The GameFAQs thing is interesting. Don't really care much for the message boards over there, but I forgot about their reviews. A lot of them are probably trash, but I think a few of them could probably offer me what I want know about a game better than 99.9% of the professional reviewers out there could.

And yeah...umm...I don't usually review too many games here. I usually just post links to Gamerankings, Metacritic, IGN, Gamespot, etc. Not sure I should really count, unless you're referring to one of the few reviews I've given on a game. I will say my review of MLB 07 The Show was probably better than any of the reviews I could find at 1UP, IGN, Gamespot, GT, etc. In fact, there was probably more text in my pros/cons section than the entire 1UP review. :)

This is true. I was actually quite surprised that Gamefaqs wasn't a poll option.

The more popular the game, the better gamefaqs is. The biggest advantage is quantity, so you get several viewpoints on the same game, including someone with similar tastes you do. Of course, for less popular games where there's only one or two reviews, it's probably no better than the major game sites.

The problem with sites like IGN or gamespot is that they do not have a good grasp of the game. This makes sense since they have so little time to play before the review must come out. They also tend to be generic. OTOH, some times you can get 10 reviews out for the Japanese release from people who have played the entire game.

Both Ign and Gamespot are horrible. There is no continuity at all with there reviews. Peer reviews and aggregate ratings at gamerankings are a much better place to gather opinions than using these two sites, imo.
