Do you really view Brooks, a young, budding player with all-star potential as expendable to the Rockets? Or are you saying the organization does?
All I want to know is where is AussieRocket. The guy who said he had this inside information about the team but never told anyone about it. Where is he now?
I smell championship lineup. If somehow the blazers know that outlaw will come back at full capacity then they will do that trade. Browry butler(iggy)/Rudy/wafer ariza/Webster scolandry Haywood(dalembert)/Hayes/Ming
Actually, no, I frankly really *like* all of our guys, and would hate to see ANY of them go. But like everyone has said a million times, if the team is to be made *better* by more than just adding Yao into this mix next year, then where are our holes, and what are our enticing assets which also have strong enough depth to lose that asset? It's either one of our 1's or one of our 4's. And among them, I think Brooks offers the best shot at enticing someone else to give us something we need in return. So do I *want* to see Brooks go? No way. But can I envision the Rox taking a hard look at the cold hard facts of the situation? Yeah, but at least I trust that if they DO do something like that, that it would inevitably be something which would make the team better.
Who is Alex Scales. Whats so good about him. Rookie? Veteran? Why is he playing overseas? He does look like he can play though..
I don't think the Rox are serious about trading tmac. They're jsut going to let his contract expire so other teams won't get a good look so he won't be abe to demand a better contract next season. It's payback time for the rockets.
I think near the end of that thread he admitted that he didn't have any info and he was just pulling us yanks' chains.
Glad you asked. Alex Scales was on the Rockets pre-season roster quite a few seasons ago. He is a 6'4, 185lb, SG that has the biggest rainbow shot I have ever witnessed in basketball, and it goes it at a great percentage. It's almost impossible to block, as he literally shots it striaght up, with perfect form. The guy can slash to the hoop, and play great defense. He played at Unniv. of Oregon, years before Brooks was there. Named All-Pac-10 First Team as a senior. He has signed short term contracts with the Rockets, Nets, Spurs, and Sonics in the past. He was always caught up in a situation where teams were loaded at the SG position (Ray Allen, Mobley, Vince Carter, etc). \ Recently he played in the Chinese basketball league All-Star game, even winning the dunk contest there too. Knock on him, is that he is 31 years old now, with little NBA experience, but tons of international experience. He was just a great player, one of the best I have ever seen, but never caught that break in the NBA. All in all, dude is just a tremendous baller, with tons of experience, and a unique skill set.
Dont get confused here. It was Fozzy Rocket, not Aussie Rocket. Two different people, I believe. You might be giving the wrong guy a bad rap. LOL.
Yep. Here is just a few of his accolades: http://hoopshype.com/players/alex_scales.htm I also found this: Two seasons ago, playing for the Jiangsu Dragons, the 6-foot-4 guard won the league’s slam-dunk contest and his explosive, exciting style of play earned comparisons to Kobe Bryant. But for Scales, a 25-year-old former All-Pac-10 First Team player at the University of Oregon, the fame is all foreign to him. He can’t understand what’s written about him in the local papers. He can’t communicate with his fans. He signs autographs that most people in Shanghai can’t read. And while it’s flattering to draw comparisons to one of the NBA’s most gifted players, Scales would prefer to be known as an NBA player himself. And he has come excruciatingly close to realizing that dream. Last fall, he was on the Houston Rockets’ preseason roster — right alongside former Shanghai Shark Yao Ming — only to be cut seven days before the start of the regular season. That’s when Scales, taking big Yao’s advice, signed on for his second tour of duty in China, his NBA ambitions once again ironically sending him thousands and thousands and thousands of miles away from the NBA — and home. ------------------------------------------ In the Pros: 2003-2004: Was one of the final cuts of the Houston Rockets prior to the NBA season, after averaging 10 points per contest in three preseason games. Playing for the Shanghai Sharks, was the Chinese Basketball Association’s second leading scorer, averaging 25.2 points per game. Was named a CBA All-Star for the second time … 2002-2003: Named to the All-Continental Basketball Association Second Team after averaging 19.7 points and 3.8 rebounds with the Grand Rapids Hoops … 2001-2002: Averaged more than 30 points per game for the Jiangsu Dragons and won the Chinese Basketball Association’s slam dunk contest … 2000-2001: Played with Livorno Basket in Italy and the NBA Ambassadors in the Liga Sudamericana competition. In College: Averaged 15.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in two seasons at the University of Oregon after spending two seasons at San Jacinto Junior College … earned All-Pac-10 First Team recognition as a senior after averaging 16.3 points and 4.3 rebounds … received Pac-10 All-Newcomer Team honors as a junior with averages of 14.3 points and 5.9 rebounds … averaged 12.3 points in two seasons at San Jacinto College near Houston, where he was teammates with current Houston Rocket Steve Francis as a freshman.
