I have an odd affinity for quirky movies where actors that are very type-cast extend themselves out a little. Sandler was pretty good in this movie, and just really like P.T. Anderson's style.
Have to go with the first Predator film. It just hits all the action, drama, alien and great dialogue marks in my book. The second Predator was the worst movie ever. Danny Glover killing a Predator when a group of elite special forces guys couldn't take it?? "Run!!!! Get to the choppa!!!!!"
Sandler was awesome, great acting by him. I just thought the story stunk and wasn't well put together. I liked the style of filming but I didn't feel like the movie did anything. PT Anderson irks me, I hated Magnolia but loved Boogie Nights. Magnolia was sorta the same as Punch Drunk Love, it just went nowhere, some good acting and actors though. Especially John C. Reilly, that dude rules.
i watched "the life of david gale" the other night. before i watched it, i read some online reviews. All of 'em said, "what a stupid movie," "what a waste of my time," "blah blah blah." i'm like.. what the heck.. I watched it.. it was a good movie. And i have good taste in movies. oh yea.. here's an AWESOME movie that never got big. life is a house. i think that's the name. What an awesome story.. if you haven't seen it.... its a MUST SEE!
I love that flick! One of Arnold's best. The shot at the beginning when he steps out of the chopper with that cigar stickin' out is classic. That movie is filled with classic Arnold scenes! And I agree that the second one spewed chunks. It would easily make a "worst movies" list.
My Bodyguard is funny and has a fantastic cast. The look on Matt Dillon's face at the end is priceless. Unbreakable was nearly perfect but the title ending sucked. Near Dark is one of the best vampire films ever and makes The Lost Boys seem like wimpy Hollywood schlock. Such a shame that Katherine Bigelow had to make Point Break and ruin her promising career. Parenthood is sappy but really funny and has a great cast.
The red headed friend is actually Chris Owens, I dont think he was in Rushmore. He is probably now best known as the "Sherminator" from the American Pie movies (wondering if he is going to be in American Wedding), National Lampoon's Van Wilder, Ready to Rumble, and a boat load of other movies.
There's a great Cary Grant movie called "Every Girl Should Be Married". It's where he met his first wife. "Hired Bride" is super. Strong feminine character, great dialogue. "Pillow Talk" never gets old. Too much going on.

A Woody fan.... I found a friend! (He says in a Ren and Stimpy voice) Have you seen Interiors, that will change your perception of Woody films forever. I don't see Woody, whose films are the stuff of film school curriculum, as underrated. Whoever said "Midnight Run" is right on about that movie. I loved that movie, DeNiro shows that he can be hilarious and Grodin is great in that movie as well. I am disappointed that not more old movies have been mentioned.
