"High Fidelity" with John Cusack and Jack Black.
"The Wonder Boys" with Michael Douglas
"One Night at McCools"- funny damn movie
    "Tom Horn"- Steve McQueen movie
"Dead Man Walking"- Tim Robbins, the flaming liberal, presents both sides of the capital punishment debate fairly and lets the viewer decide. This is a great movie.
"Groundhog Day"- I could watch this again, and again, and again..

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was well received... but who today besides ppl that know film well and Kubrick wierdos like me (and you?) know about it?

Have you seen the DVD of Barry Lyndon in the released "new" Kubrick Collection? It looks incredible.

Yea, I see your point. I'm definitely a Kubrick weirdo..;) (hehe - I liked that).

Unfortunately, I do not have a DVD player, but I can imagine that version of "Barry Lyndon" would be incredible.

You may already have this, but if not, I would highly recommend to not only you but any lover of a Kubrick movie, the documentary "Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures". It came along with 8 Kubrick movies in this special deal of Warner Brothers. An absolutely essential videotape to have if you have any interest whatsoever in this great filmaker.:)

    Dungeons and Dragons. ;) j/k

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Jar Jar is not nearly as annoying as people say (although Jake Lloyd is terrible as Anikin.) The special effects are amazing. The scenery is breathtaking. In fact, if they had just put in an older Anikin Skywalker (about the age he is in AOTC) this would have been awesome. I still thought it was very good, in spite of its problems (mostly the part where Anikin is flying the starfighter and accidentally blows up the droid control ship, plus every other part where Anikin says anything.)

Sleepers...despite Pitt was still a good movie

Empire Stikes Back...best made movie of all time and ranked ~5th

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels...I'd say its better than Usual Suspects which is a great movie everyone says is underrated.

Boondock Saints......One of the best religious vigilante movies out there.

Soldier.....I liked the concept and Russell rules...story is a little weak.

    Fallen....Denzels best work.

Titan AE....despite being a cartoon, it rocks

Harry Potter...because it has the children's movie stigma

The Little Mermaid was rated G, but with the Priest popping a bono they should have made it PG.

    Hey but seriously
Memento was amazing-- Akira is a must see---2010 ----- Hoop Dreams
Exactly if they would have made the ending dark and creepy--- the silly messages telling what happened to them ruined the whole movie for me

I don't have Kubrick: Life in Pictures. That comes in the DVD (or VHS, bleh) set that the remastered movies come in. Do people still willingly buy VHS? I may finally get around to buying it when I head to school in the fall. Then, I will have EVERY single Kubrick movie and short film except The Seafarers, because I'm waiting for the DVD of it. I have Fear and Desire + his shorts (one is 1/2 there, but as far as I'm concerned I have it) on VHS, and all his early movies not in the collection on DVD.

Although I like to talk about my small and worthless collection of Kubrick movies sometimes, I don't watch movies that often. but one of my friend's seems to have a Kubrickian obsession with Kubrick. I don't know how to describe it, it is just strange. If left unchecked, he will watch 3-4 hrs of Kubrick a day; possibly watching Clockwork Orange once a week or more. I think he has gotten over it recently.

Are you sure you're not thinking of "American Booty"? That was on the Spice channel a few nights ago.

This topic is such a tough one but I think I finally settled on a couple underrated ones. I think a most overrated thread would be more fun though cause I have a boatload of those! The most underrated movie of All-Time is of course Amelie which got a token best picture nomination but was shamefully ignored by most theaters. Some others are...

    Fresh
    Dark City
    The Rapture
    Primal Fear
    Bulworth

Most of mine people have already mentioned:

    Gattacca
    Joe vs. the Volcano
    Billy Madison
    Bulworth
    Rushmore
    Mother Night
    187
    Sneakers
Lake Placid (Oliver Platt is a comedic genius)
    Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
    The Goonies
    The Long Kiss Goodnight
    The Game
The Big Lebowski (greatest comedy of all time, bar none)
Donnie Brasco (my favorite mobster movie)

I can't think of anymore right now. Of those, Gattacca is the most underrated I feel. It is my favorite movie of all time, and only once, in this thread here, have I ever heard anyone else even mention its name.

    Shattered
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
    Jesus Son
    Joe the King
    Heavy Metal
Monsters Ball (even though it got an oscar it was not really popular in the theatres)
Niagra Niagra (if you have not seen this movie watch it!!)

Tremors. Except for being played a ton by usa and i guess tbs now i wouldn't even known about it. for a low budget movie about giant worms from outer space, it really is good. and damn funny in some parts. i'm going to go out on a limb and assume i didn't miss any of those oscar nominations it got.
