Booker definitely has more wing type ball skills. Triple threat, one dribble pull up, back to the basket type moves etc. Mitchell has far better guard skills in terms of pnr navigation, attacking the rim off the dribble, and like you said scoring from broken down plays aka "creating something out of nothing". In fact it's similar strengths I think a hypothetical prime Jalen Green has over Booker. Green I think is more naturally gifted at things like "creating something out of nothing" than Booker.
Conceptually, I don't mind the package discussed by the OP. I just don't know enough about this team to make a determination as to whether it's worth it for the Rockets. What if we're not quite ready for such a big swing? We'd gut our future assets without gaining a real chance at contention. On the other hand, what if we're good enough that we DON'T need a big swing? If three or four of our young guys start breaking out, we're in a perfect position to keep our talent and replenish it through draft. Ideally, a trade like this works best if a couple of our guys really break out this season. Say, Sengun and Amen really establish themselves as All Star or All NBA level talents. It would make sense to pair them with someone like Booker. I'm just not ready to make that call at least until the trade deadline.
03-02-24 Hou vs Phx Green 34/9/4, w/ 2 stls, 3 to, +17 Booker 24/2/5, w/ 1stl, 5 to, -17 Rox get the win. Must be a fluke.
this is exactly the definition of a fluke have you tried comparing this 1 game stats to his season averages? 34/9/4, w/ 2 stls, 3 to, +17
That looks about right. Equating Mikal Bridges to Devin Booker is pretty hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.
They're already circling, I'm sure. Waiting for the right moment. Like Daenerys' dragons before the Night King did this to one of them: And there's one......
No he’s not worth that. The Rockets are in the cat bird seat, because they own their picks. Phoenix will not be in trade mode until it is clear that they cannot compete with their current roster. Unless one of Booker or Durant gets hurt, it won’t be this year. Maybe in the off-season if they get kicked out in the first round or barely make the play-in. Rockets should be very patient with their assets other than Brooks, Tate, Landale types.
That's a lot of effort for bait. You need to try less to make these attempts more cool. Maybe remove the gif. "And there's one..." Would have sufficed and been cooler.
Booker is much better team player. Mitchellbis the better individual player but ball hogs a lot and doesn't play off the ball. Booker is much better when playing with other stars he can share the ball, can spot up or iso. Very flexible player. Also tries harder on defense. Yeah he is a bit of a beta b**** but you get him to complement your team not really carry it. He'd be perfect next to Amen and Sengun imo.
Totally agree. I don’t want Mitchell at all. He would be a terrible fit for this team and we would be locked into him for years.
IMO building around Mitchell is so much easier its like having Allen Iverson just surround him with defensive low possession players like Mobley, Jabari, Jaden Mcdaniels etc Can prob get you to the Finals in the East just like Iverson and Larry Brown. But for a team like the Rox prob one of the worst players to have cuz guys like Sengun and Amen will be reduced to spot up shooters.
Look at who Mitchell has had to play with and then ask yourself why he's a "selfish player" and he's still as good (or better IMO) at creating for teammates off the bounce and within sets while Booker does make the smart, correct pass more often than not yet he does nothing in anticipating with the ball. Booker couldnt even make it work with Durant and Beal in terms of "good teammate basketball" I dont lay too much of that on Booker though because that "Big 3" was philosophically destined to fail before they even played one game together. Mitchell would highlight the strengths of our team and fill in the gaps where it is lacking especially on self creation when defenses take away the post plus he's much more of a dog on defense. I just dont think Booker is an 'Udoka Guy' while Mitchell seems to fit the mold. When contemplating fantasy trade scenarios Booker is near the bottom of the list for me.
If this is what it would take to bring Booker in, I’m more than happy waiting to see how the young guys develop. More information is needed.
I'm trying to recall arguing with someone and disagreeing with them when that is all they claim. If we agree that he's inconsistent then obviously something else is going on the triggers you. Something isn't adding up. Do you think that is all you claim about him? That he's inconsistent? Because I agree. So what are we debating?
