Overhyped and overrated are not the same. Overhyped has to do with the anticipation BEFORE he played. Overrated is about how people judged him while he played. I think Steve Francis was probably one of the most overhyped guy in Rockets history. Eddie Griffin was also highly hyped when we got him on draft day. Getting Barkley was also very overhyped compared to the result. To a certain extent, both Asik and Lin were overhyped because of how Morey got them with the so-called poison pill contracts. How about Llull? You know, that guy who we talked every year about when he would come over.
I checked out this guys stats but I don't see where the hype would have been. His stats for the Rockets were on par for the rest of his career. I don't know if I watched this season but if he was hyped up he shouldn't have been. Seems he performed as should have been expected.

Yes. Overhyped was what I was going for. My example would have been Ty Lawson. Some people say Westbrook but we kind of knew what we was getting and nothing really came as a surprise.
