This song just flat out rocks! I Downloaded a couple of Live versions of this song a while back, all I can say is WOW!
how about "I'm Gonna Crawl," "Since I've Been lovin' You" or "Tea for One," three underrated bluesy Zep tunes. Also, gotta love JPJ's keyboards in "All of My Love." Robert Plant absolutely wails on harmonica, just check out "Nobody's fault.....", "Bring it on Home" or "You Shook Me." Ten Years Gone and The Rain Song get runners up. speaking of Pink Floyd, somebody mixed Whole Lotta Love with Floyd's "On the Run", its out there on the internet, its called, big surprise, "Whole Lotta Love On The Run." when Bonham comes in on the cymbals during the interlude, Floyd comes out of nowhere, but it sounds totallly in sync, any fan of these two bands should hear it. next week, I'll tell you where the building on the cover of Physical Grafitti is located!
oh it is absolutely worth it and a must have for Zep fans. basically, this is what all the fuss was about. Jimmy went and made three CDs out of two shows from June 72, at the LA forum and Long Beach Arena. pick it up, as well as the DVD "upon us all, a little rain must fall.....just a little rain" "we are eagles of one nest, the nest is in our souls"
"Communication Breakdown" is another favorite of mine. communication breakdown, It’s always the same, I’m having a nervous breakdown, Drive me insane!
what?? no over the hills and far away!! my favorite Zeppelin memory is from fast times at ridgemont high. "remember whem your ready to make your move put on the second side of led zeppelin IV. "
I saw them twice in August of '69... at the beginning of the month at the Houston Music Hall (man, what a night!) and at the end of the month at the Texas International Pop Festival outside of Dallas. (what a weekend!) And seven months after that at Hofheinz Pavilion. A friend of mine told me recently (we don't live in the same city) that he had heard the complete soundboard tapes of the Dallas Pop Festival (Texas International) and the sound quality is excellent. These tapes have been talked about for years, but any official release has been tied up in legal stuff. There are bootlegs of Led Zep's performance there that have made the rounds, but this is the first I've heard of the whole festival tapes popping up. I hope to see my buddy in a few months and if I find out anything worthwhile, I'll let you know.
The instrumentation on that song is absolutely gorgeous. Jimmy Page could really write the best guitar parts I've ever heard. Better than Hendrix even, though Jimi's overall musical scope was greater.
