I really do follow them btw. I really don't like slowing people down. And that's what sucks when others do not follow the law, I resent it. I find the whole driving experience nerve racking. So I just chill in the millde lane as much as possilbe while shaking my fist at the law breakers from time to time.

you realize you don't have to be in the fastlane blocking everyone else right? you can choose another lane (there are usually 2 or 3 others) where you don't have to get over for faster traffic. is the concept that difficult for you to comprehend?

then who are you having to get over for? no one expects a middle-laner to get over.

as for me, i drive 7-10 mph over the speed limit in the fast lane and, from my experience, y'all are a bunch of damn liars b/c no one ever yields. if someone wants to pass me, i get over. simple as that. if they are coming up 1-2 mph faster, i might simply speed up to avoid the whole changing lanes routine, but i never block anybody from passing.

pugsly sounds like an ******* who might need a bullet to whizz by his car one day. why in God's name i should have to make a more dangerous pass to the right simply b/c you can't hang at a faster speed but somehow think your faster speed is perfect is beyond me.

i try to be as courteous as possible when driving. sometimes if i can tell a guy to my right wants to get over, i'll slow up a little to allow him in so he doesn't have to sit behind somebody forever. or if i'm passing but doing so really slowly i'll speed up a little to let them get into the fast lane faster. i check the rear view mirror a lot to make sure i don't block people.

and i'm pretty sure speeding isn't that dangerous. it's the dangerous driving at high speeds that does it. i can go in a straight line as fast as i want w/o crashing. it takes little effort. it's when people swerve in and out at high speeds (but not you JV, b/c you're a laid back lane-changer :D ) that problems occur. and i don't do that. which is why i hate people who won't yield, b/c i'm not trying to cause more problems by trying to pass to the right.

I've never understood the whole "you're not driving how I want you to, so I'm gonna shoot at you" concept.

And driving fast is dangerous whether you think you're being safe or not. All it takes is one thing to distract your or to jump out at you to make your speed deadly.

God, I sound like my Mom. :(

    Ahem.

One of these days, when I'm out of debt and don't have to worry too much about possible costs, I'm gonna make the traffic a lot longer at one of those places. Hope bigtexxx and drapg have good insurance.

Not really. There are other things to consider on roads. Like am I about to make a left turn? If so, I'm more likely in the left hand lane. Is there a bus in the right hand lane? If so, I'm more likely to get in the left so I don't have to stop behind the bus.

Now that you brought it back up, I now understand the concept I was having trouble comprehending. :)

When traffic is moderate, cars other than the speed lane will drive at the limit or slower (eventually). By changing lanes less, there's less a chance for an accident.

It works out less in reality, but that's my guess.

i'm consistently driving fast, no less than 80 without traffic, and i don't ever feel it's my responsibility to get over when someone is coming down the freeway 100 mph. slow the f$%k down or find your own way around me. i won't intentionally block anyone in. if you feel the need to shoot at me cause i'm only going 85 than i really don't think i have the problem.

as long as they're going atleast over 70 in the fast lane i have no problem passing around them. my pet peeve is the bastards who drive slower than the flow of traffic in the fast lane, or actually any lane. they're the ones that cause everyone problems and dangerous lane changes.

"I use the fast lane but yield to faster traffic, no matter how fast I am going"

This is the ONLY correct answer.

Everyone else should be executed immediately.

I average about 90-95mph in the fast lane. In the oft chance that someone is going faster than me and coming up from behind, I gladly move out of the way so they can pass.

I don't understand why more people can't follow this rule.

And fast lane rules apply to ALL ROADS, not just freeways.

Some of us need to go 70mph down Westheimer. Don't take it personally. Just please move to the right.

Anyone else ever drive on the freeways in the UK? The drivers are awesome. Without fail, you MOVE OVER when a faster car is approaching. And the fast lane is REALLY fast. Everyone is aware of all other vehicles instead of just tooting down the road ignoring everyone. They even move over for cars entering the freeway.

It was an excellent driving experience.

How is that feasible? There are many people who need to make left hand turns off of Westheimer and other similar roads. It's just not safe for there to be a delegated fast lane on those streets. Not that it's even remotely safe to drive down Westheimer at 70mph anyway.

If a person is going 70 miles down Westheimer, they aren't respecting anyone else and thinking only of themselves. So why should other folks respect that person?

And going 95 and thinking that, somehow, people are in their way is rather selfish as well.

    You know what?

It's your right not to yield. I really couldn't care less.

Just don't get all high and mighty and pissed b/c you're forcing faster drivers to swerve from one lane to the other all the time.

More often than not, I hear people complain about speedsters who change lanes often b/c the left lane people won't yield.

All I'm saying is that if they'd yield, there would be no need for speedsters to change lanes all the time.

Do whatever you want, **** it. I don't care. I'm still going as fast as I want, and so will most other speedsters.
