You claim it, you cite it. Generally there are two reasons not to cite something. 1. You made it up. 2. The NRA made it up. Either way it's not credible.

Do your own leg work if you don't believe it. I'm citing stats from the FBI and it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other if you don't find their numbers credible just because you don't like what they say.

Your ignorance won't affect what facts I choose to quote. I'm not here to be your teacher. If you think something I quote is wrong, by all means look it up and call me out if you find out that I'm mistaken. Otherwise just remain quiet and let more informed people have the discussion.

Hmmm....what did you write that was wrong? "Studies..." without a cite. You didn't QUOTE anything. That's what is wrong. It's simply an unwarranted assertion. Like "Bobbythegreat wastes our time by making assertions claiming they are from studies, but then won't cite the studies."

Oh no wait, that's a fact, not an assertion. My bad. You can quote me on that one.

The fact is you don't really care right? You want to ban them anyway.

    http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/united-states

Check for yourself, gun deaths from long guns has gone down since the ban was lifted. Population has gone up, ownership of "assault weapons" has gone up, but gun deaths from long guns have gone down.... assault weapons are not some demon or magic bullet to fix gun violence. Handguns are the real big hitter when it comes to homicide with a firearm. Heck, most years shotguns kill more people than rifles.

Kind of like... cars. Yeah. Speed limits. Mandatory training and insurance. Licenses. Makes sense.

And certain cars are not allowed... ie, you can't drive a dragster or NASCAR racing car on public roads.

Aww, don't do the leg work for him, I was hoping he'd be forced to think and look things up for himself. Don't encourage his laziness.

I would even go as far as to suggest something closer to planes.

All well and good but the point so many seem to be missing is that there is a difference between something like planes, cars, and something that you have a constitutional right to own. You have no guaranteed right to own or operate a car, you have no guaranteed right to own or operate a plane. It really does make a difference.

Except, you do not have an unlimited right to own a weapon. At least any weapon. Otherwise you could own and operate a bazooka. Or howitzer. Or flamethrower. Or any other weapon considered a destructive device.

That line in place, we're only arguing where the line should be.

Not only this, but the reason that cars are even discussed in the first place is b/c advocates for little to no restrictions on owning guns frequently bring up how deadly car accidents are.

Bobby refuses to accept that rights, even Constitutional rights, have limits and restrictions. He's just throwing out red herrings and nonsense without substance per his usual.

Of course you don't have an unlimited right, I wasn't ever suggesting you do. What I was suggesting is that you can limit a right less than you can limit a privilege.

For example, you can't limit someone's right to vote as much as you'd limit their right to drive a car or their right to pilot a plane. For example, try re-instituting a poll tax the way one has to pay to have a drivers license or a pilot's license and people would go nuts. Try forcing people to prove that they are competent to vote the way that you are forced to prove competency to fly a plane or car and people would go nuts.

It's not different when it comes to gun ownership. It can be regulated, just not as heavily as something that is a privilege

The gun nuts in here are pushing me to vote for disarming the gun nuts.

Can you add "Disarm only NRA members" as an option?

Nope, you can really only take rights away from defenseless people that will let you get away with it....kind of why some want everyone defenseless.

Bobby do you even own a freaking gun? What do you think the odds are of some guy with an LC9 taking on multiple terrorists with AR15s and pipe bombs? This is such a schmuck argument. It takes 150 cops to kill these latest terrorists but you and your 9mm with your trip to the firing range once a year is enough to defend yourself from suicidal terrorists with rifles and bombs. Shut up.
