ohh, good call. Haven't one of those in years. Molsen Canadian or Labatts Blue are my usual fare. However I like Spaten once and a while as well.
Domestic: Kokane/Canadian Import: Stella Artois/Corona...although i only like corona when i've drank too much and can't taste it anymore, but for some reason i buy it lots.
I've always wanted to buy/try Sam Adams but never done it. Is it good? I'm not a beer buff like most of you guys (I usually just get Coors Light, Corona, etc). I wanna try something different. As for my LEAST favorite beer: Bud Ice. Me and my friends decided to round up change just to try this stuff. Upon tasting, I should have just put the money into the claw catcher machine instead.
Hey BigTexxx the ending "ator" on those beers are strickly for Doppel Bocks. Optimator is not a very good example of the style. If you go to Specks you can get a Doppel Bock called Celebrator......mmmm.....its religion in a glass. Aventinus makes a Weisenbock thats very interesting as well. It's a cross between a filtered Hefe-Weisen and a Doppel Bock, crazy strong and crazy good.
From what I understand they changed the brewing vats from glass to metel. Bad move I'm a Beck's man most of the time but I do love mc mark's home brew (I have a batch that will be ready to tap this weekend!) Harp Bass Sam Adams makes a killer winter ale
LOL, I saw the thread title and knew this would turn out to be like the music threads with people showing off their knowledge of obscure beers to show how hip they are. As for me, my feelings on my favorite beer can best be summed up in the famous song by Weezer, Say It Ain't So: Oh yeah All right Somebody’s heine is crowding my icebox. Somebody’s cold one is giving me chills. Guess I’ll just close my eyes.. Oh yeah All right Feels good Inside
For me, it all depends on the location and the occasion! Everyday at home beer/hanging at a beer joint or icehouse beer....Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite or Coors Lite In a Pub....Newcastle At the Gingerman....one of the hefeweizens At Minute Maid Park....NONE (bring my own flask) When feeling Texican....Shiner Blonde or Bock When feeling Houstonian....St. Arnolds
2000: Favorite Beer..... 2001: Beer- what's your favorite? 2002: BEER 2003: How'd we go an entire year w/o a 'best beer' thread?? 2004: BEER!!!!!!!!!
As I understand it, Shiner expanded their production and market range. Therefor the beer formula needed to be changed to add more preservatives.. therefor the slight change in taste. I have noticed it.. it certainly isn't the shiner of 2-3 years ago. Speaking of high alcohol content beers.. has anyone ever tried "the beast" by the Avery brewing Co? That's right. 18.1% abv.
