Well it's a hell of a lot better than letting Brooks, Lowry, or Ariza dribble the shotclock down to 9 seconds before we start our possession.

The defense doesn't frustrate Yao, the refs do...

All this Yao can't fit into the system is all nonsense. Yao can set picks and we know he can pass and shoot. We don't need 5 players running the fast break. After facing the lakers last night it shows us we need Yao's size against Bynum.

There is a lot that Yao needs to work on:

    - Better positioning, especially when fronted.
    - Hold the ball above the head, so smaller players can't slap it away. A lot of bigs seem to have this problem nowadays.
    - Don't take the charge, but rather challenge the shot. He's gotten a lot better at this, but still tries to take a charge too much.
    - If the defense is fronting, that means Yao is between the opponent and the basket and should almost always grab the offensive rebound.
    - Stay out of the lane so he will not clog it up.

As far as being injury prone, hopefully reconstructing his foot will save him from that.

Correct it's not just numbers. Just like when Yao was out we had Deke to insure our Defense didn't suffer and Tmac picked up the scoring. However when Tmac was out who picked up the slack? Luther Head.

Look at last year, we lose Tmac. We barely missed a beat because Artest picked up the scoring and Von played wonderfully.

So yes it's not always about numbers, it's about who you play with.

Anyway he is injury prone, I still think better Rotation of minutes could of avoided his injury especially coming off a broken foot. Some say it doesn't matter, he will get injuries anyway. I say why not improvise, we have him for at least 1 more year. We already proved that this current Roster can win games that they should win and lose games to the elite team(sometimes even win) so do we really need him to play 82 games and Ricks horrible Rotation minutes? 62 games and playoffs better than 0 games and no playoffs.

The team doesn't play a run and gun offense, it plays a motion offense. And as was pointed out ad nauseum last season there are a lot of potential benefits there for Yao. If he plays in the high post facing the basket he won't be banging down low and accumulating wear and tear. A double team against him is suicidal when the rest of the Rockets are looking to cut and score. Etc., etc.

Hopefully one of these days, just hopefully, he learns how to dunk the ball. He should realize when he has the ball and the defender is in the restricted area he has to dunk the ball. But it's been 8 years, there is no hope.
