Dude looks to be lost out there. He wants to do well, but so concerned with what plays he has to run, how to avoid fouls etc. Bottom line the tall dude needs to be free and just shoot the damn ball. without worrying about it would go-in or not. Let instinct takes over. Peyton Manning was man handled because he's got too much on his mind. Yao has the same problem.
What, his gotta worship him... is that how he'll prove to you?.... sometimes Tough love is the best Medecine?
One example, yesterday, loose ball recover, 9 foot out, Yao passed up a open jumper to Wesley who was 12 foot out and missed it. Yao had this tendcy in CNT too. So someone needs to get into his head, make him the guy he ought to be. Bird's famous quote, if you are 2 for 9 you are tring, you are trying if you are 2 for 18. Somebody needs to get this to Yao. Basketball is sports of superstars. Yao has to understand it. He may not be the dominant player everybody wants ever, but he needs to try at least.
Yao is playing like Cato production wise, but not used like Cato by Gundy. Cato rarely gets the ball low post. Rox now swings around to make an entry pass if Yao seals off his man, but teammate doesnt seem to be confident in him.
Well as President of the "Fire Grumpy" club we have temporarily stopped accepting new applications. Seriously, I think JVG has gotten a little better and hopefully in the next couple of weeks he can figure out how to incorporate Yao into the offense A LOT more.
IMHO - it is pretty obvious what the problem is. I'm not a Yao Hater, as I believe Yao has a high amount of potential to be a great force in the post, but he's mentally weak, and he doesn't know how to properly get himself the oppurtunities he needs to get a shot off. Unless Yao changes his attitude, he'll never reach his potential. A true "great" player who strives to become such would have atleast made his point verbally and publically to his coach by now. This is unanimously on Yao to do. Not Colin. Not Ewing. And not his parents. I like what JVG is doing, demanding that Yao only attack from the low post, but the way it's being done is seriously flawed...to the point that it's irritating to watch because it could be so much easier. Watching old 80 Laker games, the Lakers would run low screens to free Kareem up for a second. They would use their SF or SG a lot of times because it would dictate the mismatch for Yao in the post or it would allow the screener to be free for a nice outside shot or quick slashing lane because their man is a few steps behind.. It's annoying to watch the team waste 5-6 seconds on the clock trying to get Yao the ball. It should be acknowledged short and quick whether or not he has the position to be fed the ball. This is the area where I agree that JVG is holding Yao down. If JVG hasn't even attempted to use back screens to free up Yao, yes I do agree that he has to go.
Please tell me how you came to the conclusion that teams have figured out the "TMAC offense". In this league, any offense can be stopped if the opposing team prepares properly. Like in football, every play can be stopped if you chose the right defensive adjustments to counter it. There was a point in the first half where the Rockets were shooting over 50% from the field...I don't see any "figuring out" with those statistics. In any offense, it comes down to knocking down shots...in the Rockets case, it comes down to the perimeter players knocking down open outside shots. The players didn't do that yesterday. I don't know if you truely know a lot about the game of basketball, but the offense we run is not centered around one thing or one player 100% of the time. I have seen the Rockets countless times try to get the ball into Yao with no positive effect because he can't hold down his position. I do agree that there should be other routes to take in order to help Yao get the position he needs, but that still doesn't take away from the fact that the Rockets have tried to get Yao the ball. I can pretty much guarantee you that if Yao could get position in the post, he would receive the ball much more than he currently does. It all comes down to whether or not Yao can get and hold his position to receive the ball.
Theories on what is wrong with Yao Ming I merged 5 threads: - Yao Ming is used like Cato - Yao is not involve in a majority of the playcalls anymore - 5 things inhibiting Yao - Yao, you really need to step up... - Get Yao Help NOW!!! :x and entitled it: - Theories on what is wrong with Yao Ming
Sounds like a the title of a College Freshman Seminar or Workshop; Is there a Syllabus of some sort I should read first?
LOL ... you're right. Changed to "What is wrong with Yao Ming?". This is like trying to work a puzzle figuring out what thread could merge with another. Some of the other threads seem to fit here, but they are big enough to have their own karma going I guess. I'll try to organize these a little more as they come in.
I think there should be a Sticky Thread for each player on the team. That way everyone can vent and talk about the player in their respected thread. That way the bashing or whatever continues in their thread and no one can keep making a thread for every little thing the player does. Just my opinion...but i think it would seriously clean up some stuff in here if there was a Sticky for each player on the team. Thanks for listening.
Somehow I doubt Scott Padgett would be as much of a lightning rod as Yao Ming is to require his own thread.
The problem with that idea is the fact that there would be 6-9 stickies at the top along with the Game Thread and any big news that may come..it would kind of make the forum crowded I'm all for cleaning up the forum though
Well maybe not each player...but just the ones that have so much talking about them. McGrady Yao Mo T Howard Wesley anyone that is worth mentioning...i would not waste my time with a Ryan Bowen Thread....There could be about 5 players and then "the rest of the team" thread lol If we need to put it in another forum cuase it's getting old having 100 Yao Posts after each game.
