I hope he comes back because hes a vital rotation player, but he needs to do whats best for him. If it is causing him pain during warm ups then i have no problem him sitting out indefinitely.

I think this offseason he could be extended at a very team friendly rate because of this repeated issue. I think both sides would/should be motivated to get a long term deal done. I would offer him somewhere in the 4/80 to 4/100 range with the last year having a team option.

I believe he will eventually get over this and he would be a great bargain high end role player and if he flames out because of this injury the contract wouldnt be detrimental and easy enough to move.

I think a deal similar to what Johnathan Issac got is more appropriate. Very similar injury situation early in his career: 4-yr $60 mil. Maybe a little more. But you can’t give a guy who’s only played one healthy year out of three, $20 mil+ a year. And that’s coming from the president of the Tari fan club.

Yeah i mean its the same idea and structure, but the cap has increased since then. What i laid out is likely similar from a cap% standpoint.

Yeah, I was surprised they put a rod in, they can take it out, and the bone will heal itself, will just take a while....

The rod should provide stability - I don't think that the leg should break easily with a rod in. The tricky part comes once they take it out - and when they will decide to do so.

Is it actually confirmed that he has a rod in right now?

As I mentioned before, I had a rod in my leg...that thing somehow got infected...had to take antibiotics for over a year. I hope he is not dealing with anything like that.

I follow Tari's mom on Twitter (@teroyaeason). If she's not worried about it I'm not either.

It kind of reminds a little of Brandon Roy and his degenerative knee condition. He was in and out for over a season before the injury was fully revealed. Not saying Tari has the same injury, just similar game time decisions.

Eason had been listed as questionable prior to the last seven games but was listed as doubtful earlier on Friday, a change Rockets coach Ime Udoka said was because Eason's pain in his surgically repaired left leg had not improved.

"Just didn't subside to our liking, the pain, so taking him off this game and giving him a day of rest," Udoka said. "He's been game-to-game, day-to-day, and warming it up before the game. And so he won't tonight, and he'll be out."

She was the same way last season too on X, and she would not say anything negative when he is up for an extension this summer. That would not make any sense to put that out there.

I wish some reporter would interview a doctor about injuries like this.

I feel like the rockets would be absolute idiots to give him 4/100 mil or anything close to it in this new restrictive CBA that’s very close to a hard cap (UNLESS we know for certain that he’s healed).

This could easily end up being a chronic repeating issue where he ends up like Kawhi, Roy, Oden and some of those other guys that just couldn’t play.

And there would be plenty of risk in being tied up on a long contract at 25 mil a year for someone never available. Not very easy to move. At all.

Rockets better tread carefully here. I’m damn tired from Yao and T Mac years and all the chronic injuries hah. Super frustrating.

If he doesn't come back this season, there's no way in hell they give him an extension this summer. He would at least have to prove first that he can make it through an entire year without any major injury. If that winds up backfiring since he'd be a restricted free agent in 2026, so be it. But you cannot tie up money in a guy who's available for only 20-25 games per season.

I would do the opposite. Extend him on a long-term discounted deal, possibly with a team option on final years.

Unfortunately, NBA players today are starting to remind me of MLB pitchers

You just never know if you'll get a fully healthy season out of anyone .

Furthermore , resting players and injury management are still in vogue ... It's a dominant strategy provided you can make the playoffs .

The NBA may have even made it more enticing with the play in . Right now there's not a lot of difference between the 7th seed and 10th .

Seems like 60 games is closer to a "full season" than 82 .

Health is one of Jalens best abilities .

Generally young guys have better health luck , but alot of young guys are also missing years early on and having to remake their bodies .

Jamal Murray looks like a shell of himself

There are reasons why cam and tari fell in the draft .

I’ve been thinking about this lately. However, I could see Tari betting on himself and going to restricted free agency. I hope he doesn’t. I hope he takes a team friendly deal and is one of those players that you think “how the hell did they get him on that contract??” In a few years.
