Yes. Where did you hear mentioned of the knee? It’s always been left shin/lower leg/tibia — also, fwiw, pre-existing Official team announcement posted to nba.com last year, post-op https://www.nba.com/rockets/news/rockets-medical-update-3 Today, the Houston Rockets announced that forward Tari Eason underwent successful surgery to treat a benign growth in his lower leg. The surgery, which was performed by Dr. Ned Amendola at Duke University, involved excising and bone grafting the lesion along with inserting an intramedullary rod in his tibia to help accelerate healing. The issue became symptomatic for Eason after sustaining a blow to his leg during a preseason game vs. Indiana on Oct. 10, 2023. It was not at risk of causing a fracture to his tibia and presented a possibility of healing with non-surgical treatment which would have allowed Eason to return to play this season. Following a slow healing process, the decision was made to move forward with the surgery in order for Eason to be ready for the start of next season. He is expected to make a full recovery in approximately four months. this year, Coach continues to address the surgery as described, above. Never a mention of the knee.
I mean, why did you say knee several posts before that. Just curious if Twitter or something is saying knee? DD was responding to you, and I took it as he was just talking about a rod, not saying it was a rod in the knee. We (clutch, dd, others) have discussed this on playback … DD knows it’s the tibia.
I was asking you about post #220. Which is b4 those by dd. But nm, you’ve answered my question. Seems you just tossed out mention of the knee, with no source. I was just wondering if some knee rumor was spreading.
No no in 220 I was investigating/asking because I didn't know anything at all. I thought all we knew was that his knee is mysteriously sore. Was just way off. I'm glad Tari is good.
Just hope Tari and Bari heal well and it does not become recurring. I am all for not rushing anyone back prematurely.
Yao TMac Dwight CP3 … even Ironman Westbrook got hurt near the playoffs with us. Wouldn’t be the Rockets if we didn’t have injury woes.
Thank God the Rockets are stacked deep at the forward position otherwise losing Tari would have been a major blow to the Rockets chances this year. Dillon Brooks Amen Thompson Jabari Smith Jr. Cam Whitmore Jae'Sean Tate It's no wonder our record is so damn good. All 5 of those are + players on the +/- rating not to mention Tari. Nice work Stone! Now find a way to keep them all happy and keep them all here.
It would not be the first option if it wasn't a High competitive athlete. Conservative treatment perhaps. Money and time are on the line. That is why I am ultra skeptical about them calling it a full recuperation........it does not seem that way if they are treating it that cautiously, they are scared of something.
Ok even I am getting worried lol. Its been a couple months no way this just pain or w/e. If you are hurting for a month its time to see the doctor wtf.
Looked up the procedure, from what I can tell it isn't very risky long term besides infection risks. Takes about 1 year for the bone to fully heal and it has been 10 months. It is not great that he is experiencing soreness, but doesn't seem to indicate a long term issue. My hope is that the Rockets are being extra careful and allowing the bone to heal fully and for soreness to go away. Worst case, wait the rest of the season, and if the soreness doesn't go away, they can remove screws or the rod once the bone heals which should resolve the issue (and probably require a few months recovery). But no fear, Implant removal is one of the most common procedures in bone and joint surgery and is considered low risk. Here is a look at the procedure:
