Not exactly. Those were WIDE OPEN 3s that he was making. With even a slight pressure from his defender, he would either opt to penetrate or just end up bricking it. How often did you see him GO FOR a jumper off a pick. He is NOT confident in taking any jumpers with a defender near him. His signature shot is more like a penetration followed with a floater. In a way, he is kind of like Mark Jackson, except somewhat more athletic but less skillful in passing.

Yeah thats the only complaint I have of Sura. Sometimes he doenst get the ball to Yao early enough (but neither do any of the other Rockets).

Sura has been about as good as anyone could have imagined. Solid defense, good rebounding, good passing, and decent offense (his 3 point shot has improved a bit since december). For a guy who is injured i think he is playing as well as we could hope. I just hope he can stay healthy for the whole season.

17-9 since Sura moved into the starting lineup. That would be pretty sweet 53-54 win pace.

We can't just have spot up shooters. The day that we brought in Sura was the day that gave us another option (besides TMac) that could drive inside the lane for the score or pass to create scoring opportunities for *others.* We needed another speedy/athletic scoring threat that could ALSO pass! Before that, we had guys (Ward/Lue/JJ) trying to drive (or get by their defenders), but couldn't -- you can forget about them passing because of a collapsing defense. It never happned. Which left us with little options other than, jacking up 3s, or forcing it into Yao or having TMac try and take over.

Also, merely having the ability to drive isn't enough. You actually have to be able to score on those drives, as Sura has proven to do. And once that threat is there, the defenders will respect his drive and commit. That leaves others OPEN (Yao/Deke/Howard/Barry, etc...).

    See how that goes?

As far has Sura's 3 point shot. Sure, I'd love it to be better. But haven't you noticed that he hits regularly in the 4th quarter? Seems like he's gets better as the game goes along. Barry is our most consistent 3 pt shooter (43.6%). Sura knows this.

So, Sura contributes in what he's good at; driving, scoring and rebounding or driving and passing for easy buckets. Barry contributes at what he's good at: 3 pt shots and passing on the break.

Wow! That sounds like a team that is complementing each other. Imagine that!

    17-9

i got an idea for people who profess themselves as YOF's:

    go start a YOF's fansite!!

the mere fact that you have brought in a whole language of initials that makes one Rockets fan different from another, its just plain crazy.
we never wanted yofs or yohs or johs or sofs. and some of you embrace the fact that you are only here to support Yao.

we want ROCKETS WINS all the time , every time.

if you cant see that Suras play helps the Rockets win, then take it elsewhere...

Sura's been horrible in terms of PG, period. You've got respect his all around game though. He's definately been helping this Rox team.

I was a Hakeem-Only fan back in the 80's, I didn't give a damn if th Rox won or not, I only wanted to watch him and see how he played. Superstars with appeal will always draw fans like that, YOF term was coined by old school Clutch posters, not the YOFs themselves. I find them annoying also when they startr clamoring about this and that cuz they wanna see their man do good. But in all honesty, I woulda been the same way with Dream had ClutchFans been up in the 80's. Dream left, I still rooted for the Rox, loyalties sorta get ingained when you find yourself rooting for the same uniform and name for 10+ years.

In summation, Let's not hate, just educate.

Sura is a plus than a minus, but it doesn't take a YOF to admit his minuses.

With Mcgrady out, and Yao shooting well above 50 % there's is NO reason why Sura should be even close to taking as many shots as Yao.

    Last night --Sura 3-13
    Yao 9-14

I would tend to agree. The whole team was throwing bricks and Yao got almost no touches in the fourth quarter. It makes no sense.

Yes this is VERY frustrating and I think why these type of threads get started. You don't have to be a YOF to be frustrated with watching what happened in the 4th quarter. Sura goes away from Yao too much when others are throwing bricks and he's hot. What gives?
