Sura has played superbly. We started winning when he started. I can't understand these people going after Sura. His play has improved this team - period.
since when did being the point guard = being a ball hog I mean, by definition, he should get the ball on every offensive possession... right ? .... but I have only played basketball for 22 years so I might be wrong - maybe its the Centers that are suppose to bring the ball up the court
no way, sura is such great player and play like all-star to9t. he is only 32 with one leg. he sould take 20 shots next time w/o tmac
I just realized that since Sura became a starter for this team (December 2, 2004), we have gone 17-9. He came off the IL following offseason surgery and played 2 games as a substitute against Denver and Detriot (November 27, 30). We lost both games though.
because they could care less about the Rockets overall success. They in fact are the selfish ones, ironic, no?
Ok, let me make it more obvious to you. Should Sura bring the ball to up the court? Yes. Should Sura pass the rock when Yao has established position inside the paint, on single coverage, shooting 9/14 FG? Absolutely yes! Should Rockets develop 24 year old all star center Yao or 31 year old journey guard Sura? I don't even need to answer this one. There is absolutely no season for Sura to WAIVE off Yao on multiple occasions in the fourth quarter when all other Rockets are throwing bricks. PERIOD!
Sura does not make the EARLY entry pass to Yao, he tends to work the ball around before passing. I think this is to allow them to run the JVG offense. Yao gets early position, he should get the ball, but right now it seems that Yao has to set a pick first. Heck...doesn't matter to me as long as they are winning. DD
I can't speak for the whole game (I only saw the second half) but Sura had 7 assists so he threw the ball to someone ! and he did waive off Yao in the 4th - because JVG called a set screen play to take more time off the clock. Yao established himself too early in the possess to run a straight post play
You need to chill out dude, we won. Don't worry I am sure we will lose a game and you can roast Sura over a pit. But for now enjoy the win.
totally agree. I 'm a YOF and I'm a Chinese. I have been start a thread like " chemistry between sura and yao" I just want to people give some sugestions. Sura plays very good concider his condition. and he has heart. I definitely agree. But I do feel he just like to give the ball to tmac and I ask people here to notice that his body language btwn him and Tmac and yao. I just feel sorry for yao. Poor yao. He have to stand up and talk with his teammates. Go yao , Go rockets
I was at the game in the club level, and porsche definitely isn't the only person who notices sura misses yao a lot. Basically my entire section was yelling at sura to pass yao the rock. C119.
I think Sura was one of the best moves that we made. If Yao doesn't get the ball, Sura may think that Yao isn't ready for the ball. That's what point guards do. Give you the ball when they are confident in the assist. Cato appeared to have yao hopping around a bit. Our TO count is down. Perhaps throwing the ball to Yao isn't always a good idea.
Sura can't shoot 3s. He's allergic to plays that lead to him taking a wide open 3 point shot and brick it - like the low post play. It's obvious he preferred to drive instead of taking open 3s off Yao's passes out of double team in thet last game vs the Magic.
I also notice that Sura misses the chances for a early post play. Sura is not selfish, he does not hate Yao. He just doesn't think the chances are that great to score given the situation. He knows how Yao plays and what types of situations are best for Yao (given his [Sura] passing skills), maybe he knows he's not that good of an entry passer? So instead of risking a costly turnover he descides to try to make something happen and possibly get an even easier basket for someone else and sometimes Yao. Sura exceeded my expectations greatly. Don't forget he's playing injured! He could be putting up all-star stats if healthy! He's certainly a triple double threat every game!
Totally agreed. As I have pointed out in the game thread, Sura can't shoot. He'll take a 3 or even a 12-foot jumper only if he has no other choices. I do like his hustle play, but I dont believe his game really compliments Yao though.
Sura has hit tons of clutch 3's this year. For me, his shooting has been a pleasant surprise. But still not great. I'm ok with his shots because he is really taking them with confidence lately.
