I’ve always believed in the government providing a strong safety net/ floor and that it needs to be updated as things change. However, I also believe in personal responsibility. I’ve always considered myself center left. I also know I am blessed by being born in Texas and living in a state that has pretty much boomed since my birth. However based on my life experience and high school history classes… I know that American regions rise, stagnate, and fall. I know that eventually Texas will start stagnating and will fall. Progress requires government working. I just believe traditions/conservativism has a built in security blanket advantage. I don’t think progressives are tone deaf, they just have an uphill messaging battle where their ideology is socialism or communism or now wokism.
accepting the (dubious) premise that Walker is of uniquely bad character/intellect for a senator, think of it this way: if there is a choice between incompetent/expensive plumber of upstanding character vs a skilled/cheap plumber who is unfaithful, I'm hiring the latter. Because that gets me the outcome I prefer.
Fixing your toilet is one thing, pushing laws that restrict freedom is another......................apples and oranges my friend
The problem with someone lien Walker though is that if he’s hypocrite on some issues of principal what’s to say he’s going to be a reliable vote? What’s to say out of self advance me or greed he votes against your interests? We saw Texas politicians do that regarding the HpV vaccine and on other issues before.
Even if that plumber ends up causing every other plumber's work to continually be scrutinized even when every other plumber's work has been found to be well done? Even when that plumber joins a bunch of people he worked with to disrupt and cause harm to other plumber's? Even when that plumber has demonstrably stolen from the people he has worked for? I've seen this stupid analogy before. It's flat out stupid. #up your game #bebetter
In a primary that would be a consideration, but in the general election when the only alternative is Warnock, why would it make sense to vote for him?
effective might be a better word (in this case more effective than Warnock at advancing my policy interests)
