I would too because every Russ trade sucks. The only ones that harden might be “fine” with are going to send back terrible contracts like Griffin and Wall. They gotta convince Russ to stay.
Because teams will have their rosters and systems set and adding a player like Russ, earlier the better. Plus teams have more assets and most generous right before the draft. But I agree, rather keep Russ than give him away for pennies on the dollar.
The trade is for the hope and promise of the drafted player much more than the just the player. Trading for the what could be vs the what is. The #6 pick vs a developmental player with the hope of one day adding to a team but has a lot of talent when his time comes. I truly think the G league is a better/cheaper and more likely to get what your looking for way to add role players and fill out a roster. The draft is for stars & starters; with a lot of hit or misses. It’s a fun process and fair way of distributing the talent.
Sorry meant to reply, nice comparison. Kemba is seen as valuable. Hopefully teams view Russ the same.
Rockets finding ‘relatively barren’ market for Westbrook, per ESPN https://t.co/T5HeuLJly7 “The Rockets have been actively searching for trade partners for Westbrook, but that marketplace is proving relatively barren,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Zach Lowe, and Ramona Shelburne reported Sunday, citing sources. Not looking great so far.
Westbrook's trade value has never been lower in his career. This man is coming off his absolute worst playoff performance (which is saying a lot) and has a horrendous contract. We'd be lucky to get an unprotected FRP for him.
BUMP! A third of CF voters got this right! including me! Well sort of lol. Of the 23 who voted correctly, maybe some were like myself that thought Westbrook would've been traded for expirings or at least some cap relief in addition to a pick. Obviously his value was worst than what I had initially thought, hence my not so great poll choices.
