Wasn't Trader Jorge the one who said if you didn't like a cat you should just wrap it up in a towel and throw it in the sewer?

the shelter we adopted our dog at named her Alexis...Alexis is WAY too long for a dog's name. come on...freaking 3 syllables!!!?? are you kidding?

we renamed her, Ally. absolutely zero significane to that, except it seems as if it's short for Alexis.

I have 2 golden retrievers, one of them is 12 and the other is 7. Their names are "Houston" and "Rocket", and no Im not kidding, lol. I guess its easy to see the significance behind that.

Reva - calico cat - named after a Los Lobos track.

Simon - tabby cat - wife named him, just wanted a cute name.

Jane - 5 year old Rott - we wanted a name that was feminine and one syllable, easy for a dog to understand.

Ranger - 8 month old Rott - we had been wanting a male Rott for a few years and came up with 'Ranger' a while back and it just stuck... we always said when we got a male we would name him 'Ranger' and we did!

    see my pets here!

For full fairness, I believe he typed that a friend had done that with a cat or cats, but T_J did not necessarily recommend this course of action.

As for names, we have a cat named Ajax, and another named Lucy. I got to choose the former, Mrs. B-Bob chose the latter. I've always loved the name Ajax and the Greek mythology surrounding the name. I hope to rescue it from its association with the cleanser.

If you had told her that you wanted to name the cat Wink in honor of Steve Francis, she probably would have gone with it! :)

Waaaaaay back (about 15 yrs ago), when we used to have our dogs, they were named:

    Jerry
    Romeo
    Duke
    Duchess
    Silky
    Snowy
Tabby (we used to have a cat, used to call it 'Tabby' and after it left us, we felt so bad we called the dog Tabby)

    my chihuahua is named Lickey.

he will lick you all day long if you let him.

nicknames include lickster, lickems, the lickeymonster, and turd burgler.

"it's not cheating if you spread peanut butter on your balls and let your dog lick it of"

    "ewwwwwwwwww"

"cause it's YOUR dog, you know, YOUR dog"

    "oh we get it..."

    My 8 month old Papillion is named Charlie. When we bought him from the breeder he was the runt of the litter and the first name that came to me was Charlie Brown because he looked so pathetic {in a cute way}

Actually, he did. In September, gr8-1 started a thread saying his rambunctious young cats were driving him crazy and asked advice on what he should do about their behavior. This was TJ's exact response:

Do what my friend did, wrap them in towels and throw them down the sewer. Hey, that's more humane than what those Baylor baseball players did a couple years ago to the Taco Cabana cat.

Sounds a lot like a recommendation to me.

As far as all of our cats' names, not one of them has any significance other than that was the name that popped into my head at the time. In several cases, they have the names they came with from the shelter.

My cat's name is Kitty Crash. He was rescued after being hit by a car.

All my cat's have been named Kitty. They usually answer to Kitty, but, hey they're cats so it depends on how they feel.

My bad (memory wise, but not recommendation wise). Guess I'm always trying to unconsciously asign a little extra decency to some events/people. :(

Our first cat was named Shamaloo, a nonsense word that my sister made up. We had to give Shamaloo to a friend in Austin when we moved to New Zealand. Despite being a complete dork and a bit mean, Shamaloo will always be Number One Son. He comes before any children we may have.

Since we've moved here we've gone pet mad. Some person my wife works with was leaving the country and couldn't take his cats. Feeling the pang of pet seperation from moving we had to take them....they are the sweetest cats. Unusually affectionate. They didn't really have names...their former owner called them "Hairy" because one was, yes, hairy and the other "Grey" because...you know. We rechristened them "Laverne" and "Shirley."

About a month ago we got a Lab/Strattfordshire terrier cross. I desperated wanted to call her "The Big Ragu,' or "Lenny" or "Squiggy" to complete the bad 70's television show name theme, but you can't call a girl "Lenny." We settled for "Ellie" (as in Miss Ellie) to give some Texas television love.

My dog was abused by her first owner. My dad has a friend that is a college professor, and she has about a dozen dogs and is really into pets, so one of her students told her that she saw a dog getting abused all the time by her neighbors, so she stole it and gave it to the profesor and then gave it to us when she was 5 months old. The woman named my dog Sophie, because that was her grandma's name.
