I remember when he was laughing after a missed FT. I said to my wife "he's laughing at the Nuggets because they are down by 15 and the Rockets are shooting 40% from the FT line."
It might have been the altitude, plus playing the second of a back to back. But 15 missed free throws on the road is unacceptable.
man, poor FT is a part of season play.it'll happen sometimes, but not alawys.it do happen in other teams.don't forget rocket is 3rd FT,and it won't lose after one night.let's see it!
Take your self easy.... its just one game, i think our free thorw in this season is OKkkkk... Maybe they will be back at our home court
I looked up the FT shooting for the last 20 teams to play in Denver and added their current team FT% and rank in parenthesis (the Rockets should be considered 3rd with a slightly better percentage if you want to exclude the game in question): Rockets: 20-35, 57.1% (80.5%, 5th) Blazers: 16-25, 64% (76.1%, 20th) Lakers: 27-36, 75% (77.1%, 16th) Hawks: 24-26, 92.3% (73.5%, 29th) Celtics: 18-21, 85.7% (77.1%, 15th) Spurs: 9-14, 64.3% (77%, 17th) Bobcats: 20-27, 74.1% (74.3%, 26th) Jazz: 26-41, 63.4% (77.2%, 14th) Kings: 18-22, 81.8% (80.1%, 6th) Magic: 21-30, 70% (72.7%, 30th) Suns (no Shaq): 28-31, 90.3% (75.7%, 21st) Mavericks: 20-24, 83.3% (82%, 2nd) Pistons: 27-40, 67.5% (74.9%, 25th) Heat: 15-16, 93.8% (76.1%, 19th) Pacers: 23-29, 79.3% (80.6%, 4th) Hornets: 19-24, 79.2% (80.7%, 3rd) Sixers: 18-30, 60% (74%, 28th) Blazers: 15-19, 78.9% (76.1%, 20th) Cavaliers: 19-24, 79.2% (75.4%, 23rd) Warriors: 18-24, 75% (78.3%, 10th) This doesn't consider B2Bs or scheduling, in general, but 12 out of the last 20 teams to play in Denver shot FTs below their season averages while 8 teams shot better. 5 of the 12 teams that shot worse, shot more than 10% below their season averages. 3 of the 8 teams that shot better, shot more than 10% above their season averages. I don't know how much signficance there is in this incomplete set of data but I would guess if there is any effect on FT shooting from playing in higher altitude, it isn't likely very signficant. It may be just a randomly bad night like the guy on the previous page suggested. It may be fatigue from playing a lot recently, not necessarily just two days in a row. Denver went 23-26 for 88.5% from the line, much better than their season average (75.6%, 22nd), despite playing in B2B games so I doubt that, in itself, is much of a factor. It may have been a psychological thing that trickled into all our players' heads after they started the game poorly from the line. Regardless, my guess is the next time we play in Denver, we shoot a lot better from the line, regardless of scheduling or any other factors. You also have to consider that Artest, Wafer and Landry were responsible for 10 of the 15 missed FTs. Artest missed 4 and the other two missed 3 each.
Fatigue leads to missing free throws. Back to back. Altitude. Also, Rick's really tightened up the rotation, so I'm sure those 8 players are beginning to get tired.
