Here are mine. And PS3 lovers, Keep in mind I only have a 360 (and dont care to have a Wii). So I didnt get to play MGS4. Rock Band 2 Saints Row 2 Tomb Raider: Underworld I also enjoyed LEGO Indiana Jones (say what you want, but those LEGO games are addicting!), Left 4 Dead (If you only play the campaign mode, it is way too short) & Grand Theft Auto IV (Even though I was pretty let down by it and I know I am in the minority on that one). I have Gears of War 2 and just havent gotten around to playing it yet... 2007 was a much better year in my opinion. Nothing could beat Mass Effect in my eyes.
gears 2 and to the kid who said the game was the same...I would be shocked if you played both all the way through or played the multiplayer on either. secondly, just because every single facet of the gameplay wasn't changed does not make it any less deserving. overall it was refined and polished, if it isn't broken...
lol, I think you mean brothers in arms. band of brothers is a tv show. left 4 dead is pretty cool too, I've been playing it a good bit lately.
Gears of War 2 Fallout 2 Mercenaries 2 Left 4 Dead Grand Theft Auto 4 my top 5. If I had to pick one I would pick Gears of War 2 though.
IMO, its gotta be Left4Dead it is the best multiplayer game I have ever played, it is epic Major fails this year imo 1) Grand Theft Auto IV -sucked major ass imo
In the same boat as you. Haven't gotten P4 yet though. I'll probably finish up Tales this week. Great game. Just got a HDTV for christmas and the PS2 kind of looks like ass on it. I haven't really messed around with it much at all so maybe I can make it look better.
Nope. It's about the same thing they did with Rainbow Six Vegas 2: they added in stuff that seemed little when you started, but then when you went back to the first game, the new features seemed conspicuous in their absence, because they had changed the game in ways you hadn't realized. For Rainbow Six 2, it was adding sprint and adding destructible cover. That's it, really. They changed nothing else. And those two things alone made the original obsolete. With Gears of War 2, it's a few things. First off, it's computer characters (including enemies) being able to heal each other. It's being able to crawl when you're almost dead. It's a FAR more realistic implementation of the chainsaw melee attack. It's more humor, better dialogue, more open areas. It's better weapon balance and variety (I love the new-look locust default gun). It's the elimination of portions which were more frustrating than fun (Kryll onslaught in the car, anyone?). They all seem like small changes, but it's getting to the point where I wonder whether I'll ever play Gears of War 1 again. And I never thought that would happen.
Anyway, back on topic... there's way too many great games this year... 1. Fallout 3 2. Valkyria Chronicles (barely played it, been more occupied with Fallout... but from what I've played, I feel like it may end up my #1 in the end). 3. Gears of War 2 4. Left 4 Dead 5. Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway 6. NBA 2k9 7. GTA IV I HAVE NOT PLAYED MGS4, LBP, or P4 though.
Must of been just me then. I played through the first and second with a couple of firends. It gets tiring shooting at locust for hours to reach a boss which you can kill easier then most mobs in the game. It's a good game though, I just felt it didn't offer anything really different then the first. Criscokid You ever played P3?
Yeah, I started it about this time last year, but got burnt out on it about 2/3 of the way through it. Gonna pick it up again soon and finish it off. Another great game, but some aspects of the battle system can get annoying at times.
I think the only game I've played this year is 2K9. If I had a PS3 I definitely would've been all over MGS4.
I havent played all of those games but I thought Smash Bros Brawl was pretty good too. I loved Gears of War 2 though.
Finished getting the “true” ending for P4 a little quicker than I thought I would. With that more or less done (might do a replay soon though), I can post my rankings: 1. Persona 4 2. Persona 3: Fes 3. LittleBigPlanet 4. Metal Gear Solid 4 6. Mass Effect (PC) 7. Disgaea 3 10. Resistance 2 Top 4 games were all pretty much a toss-up since they're all excellent games, but I had to give the nod to the Persona games, which suit my personal tastes a bit more...that, and they only cost me $30-$35 new. I'd probably say that my top 5-6 games of 2008 were better than my any game I played in 2007 and maybe even 2006. Of course, two of those games were released in some form last year, but nevertheless, this was definitely a great year for games IMO. And as I already mentioned, I never got a chance to play Fallout 3, Valkryia Chronicles (besides the demo, which I really liked), and Dead Space. Looking forward to checking those out next year whenever I can find the time...and money. I loved P3, but I was definitely annoyed with the battle system at times, especially during The Answer section. Maybe we're talking about different things, but I definitely think this was handled much better in P4. Some annoying things are still the same, such as “Main character dies = game over,” but some features were added to make this less likely to happen (EX: allies will take a mortal blow for you). They seemed to make the game more difficult to make up for these changes, but this just makes it more challenging rather than more annoying/cheap IMO.
