Wow, there's a switch... not used to the heavy-handed, cynical sarcasm coming from you. I haven't felt this wronged about gaming awards since PSM gave game of the year to Castlevania over FF7.
even though overall games have been lacking...at least you havent had to send your console in numerous times to get fixed
Don't really feel comfortable doing that since it is barely in the top 5 in votes. Of course, things could be different if everyone listed 3-10 games instead of 1-2. I still think they're more or less of the same quality, although the situations in HS were usually more dramatic, which made the VA seem a bit awkward at times. Either way, they're both much better than what most other games offer. I came close to putting Warhawk on my list (loved playing it), but decided against it since I didn't give COD4 MP a fair shot. I'd feel pretty bad if I didn't put COD4 in the top 10 because of its below-average SP campaign, only to put a MP-only game in the top 10. I thought it would be better to just rank the games by their SP campaigns. I think comparing it to Tomb Raider is actually discrediting Uncharted to some degree. I'd rather just think of it as what a (good) Indiana Jones game would be like...assuming it had no direct ties to Indiana Jones of course. It wasn't my favorite game of 2007, but Uncharted is probably my favorite new franchise (of the games I've played of course). Definitely interested in seeing what new adventures Nathan Drake has in store for us in the future.
Didn't get to play Bioshock all that much but a friend of mine saids its unbelievable. Played a bunch of Halo 3 and COD4, all I can say is that COD4 was way better. I'd vote for COD4, one of the best games I've ever played.
If I had to vote for the best game that I played in 2007, then my vote goes to Resident Evil 4. I'm still stuck in the previous generation.
A version of Resident Evil 4 was released in 2007, so that's technically not a previous generation title. FWIW, the best game(s) I played this year were from the PS1 era or older IIRC.
As of this post, here are the results (top 10): 1. BioShock 2. Halo 3 3. Mass Effect 4. Orange Box (includes votes for any game included in the Orange Box) 5. Call of Duty 4/Guitar Hero (2 or 3)/Super Mario Galaxy 8. NBA 2K8 9. Assassin's Creed/SKATE There's a bit of a gap between the top 4 and the rest if I counted the votes correctly (note that I didn't count votes from people who only listed 1-2 games). I'm assuming that everyone who wanted to vote has already voted, but I don't mind posting an update if more people vote after this post. Unless someone bumps this thread in July or something of course.
