Scola, Landry, Battier, Ariza, Brooks. I think the Rockets will hope Battier and Ariza can stay in front of their man.
I think a mitigating factor with Bats playing the 2 is that he doesn't have to handle the ball a lot. Adelman wants constant ball movement until you get the open shot. Shane understands that better than anyone else on the court.
Ariza imo. Ariza is not a guy that is essential to the starting lineup. He is a role player, nothing more. I think Shane deserves to start.
Battier has better chemistrey and defense with the team but Ariza is the starter, really no brainer if you know why he came to Houston.
Can you imagine what is going to happen when the Rockets play the elite teams, maybe any team! When you put it on paper, it is scary. Most lineups above are going to struggle to score eighty points. Anderson weighs 235 lbs! Are you serious?! He'll spend most of the game in the cheap seats. I am not saying it won't be somewhat entertaining, but if Brooks has many of his 2 for 20 games, it's going to get ugly.
I was thinking the same thing, but it sounds like (according to Feigan) that Andersen is already penciled in as the starting center. I just keep seeing a bunch of lay-ups and dunks from the opposing team with Scola and Andersen as our "inside presence." I can't even think about what will happen when we play Shaq and Dwight.......
As I recall, Feigen pretty much had Scola penciled in as a starter before his rookie season as well. But it took about 3 months for that to happen.
Anderson will draw their bigs outside, and Scola will go crazy down low. We'll have to hope our threes are falling, for sure. Night-in, night-out, we'll have a shooter's chance of outscoring our opponents. Think Golden State's playoff run three seasons ago. That's what I'm hoping we'll see, anyway...
Two Scenarios: (1) David Andersen is a legit NBA player Starters: PG Aaron Brooks SG Tracy McGrady SF Travor Ariza PF Luis Scola C David Andersen (2) David Andersen is a backup change of pace type of player PG Aaron Brooks SG Tracy McGrady SF Trevor Ariza PF Carl Landry C Luis Scola Either way, Shane Battier is going to be a devastating defensive weapon trump card off the bench to be able to throw at teams.
Something about these potential starting lineups makes me want to nominate this as the most depressing thread I've seen in recent years. Is this all for real?
AB Battier Ariza Scola Hayes No way Adelman lets Budinger or Taylor be the starting SG from day one. They will have to work for it. Also, it would simply be disrepectful if Battier was moved to the bench before a single game. Like with the Hayes/Scola situation, veterans will usually get the nod over the rookies until the rookies prove they can offer more.
Battier will start no matter what. I think Hayes is most likely to get the nod at center, Andersen will have to earn the starting spot. If t-mac comes back, I am sure he will come off the bench for a while. The starting spot will be Ariza's to lose. Battier, T-mac, and Ariza could not all start. One will have to come off the bench, I think we have to hope that it's a tough decision because Ariza and T-mac are playing really well.
If McGrady is deemed healthy enough to play and comes back relatively early (November) I would be very surprised if he doesn't start.
