how depressing is it that the discussion is between these two songs for 'best song of the past 13 years'. I put them right up there with 'Like a Rolling Stone'
Hey Ya was just the perfect pop song when it came out. Even my calloused I-only-listen-to-obscure-music self couldn't resist it. It's well-crafted and catchy without being cheap and gaudy like most radio pop. I don't care who wins this contest, but that song is great.
jeez, 13 years of music and this is what's in the running? edit: here's a random googled list of top songs from just the 90's. http://www.alaskajim.com/polls/2002topsongs1990s_results.htm the difference in music quality isn't even close.
That list isn't much better, of the top 25, there are really only 2 good songs and maybe a couple a couple others I'd here arguments for.
Not the best rap songs, but "Move b****" and "Get Low" got major major rotation. Constant airplay for at least 6 months.
Low by T pain and flo rida was a snub. everyone can finish this lyric. "Shawty had them apple bottom jeans [jeans], boots with _________"
Touch screens? I'm trying to think of something that rhymes with jeans, but nothing makes sense. I guess no everyone can finish that lyric.
I'm shocked japandroids are on the list... I love them but there are some other Indy songs they could have put on there.
