Never play rookies. They won't help the team.

EG sucks. Period. Play Yao and Cato at the same time please. We need to play the veterans to win.

You do know they have a worse record than us, don't you? I'm trying to figure out what you're trying to say by bringing them up.

The Clips are always a young team with talent that fails to do anything...

Oh, and as for the Grizzlies comment you made... Hubie just coached them to a 29 point loss to the Jazz. Go Hubie.

You forgot Yao is a Rookie.
Anyway... I agree that EG is too inconsistent to deserve that much playing time.

There's nothing wrong with lofty expectatons. How many top draft picks do you have here?

It's poor team chemistry and this starts at the top with management and coach. The team has no vision for the type of team it wants to be, gun and run like the Mavs or with a center dominated offense like LA.

If you refer to my thread on "trade Yao Ming" you'll see what I mean. If trading Yao at the top of the market means you'll get players that'll bind into a consistent system that focuses on the jump shooter then let it be. However you gotta stick with one or the other.

Please please don't hack every thread with your "trade Yao Ming" post ok?

As for you question about how many draft picks we have, well we just missed 3 years of playoffs but we now have successfully built a team challenging for it. How many years before since Clippers/Grizzlies made playoffs? You can't expect a lottory team to suddenly become champions.

    I like that one.

I think it sums it up pretty well, and the heart is something the coach should be able to influence...you probably where i'm going with that so i don't think i need to say any more...

    3. Lot of young players who don't know how to win in the NBA

I've said it all season long. The problem is Rudy. I thought that he had it together a couple of weeks ago, but it's become apparent that he's lost control of the team. Again. If Rudy doesn't run any plays, and get these kids to listen to him, it's a lost cause.

I keep hearing this inconsistency reason as the single biggest problem for Rox. It's not really a problem that can be solved soon, is it?

If we say inconsistency as the problem, then the only solution is to keep playing until all players mature. How many games/months/years will it take Rox as a team to play consistent?

BTW, IMO Steve and Yao are quite consistent in their outputs.

I don't think beating the Knicks at home is too lofty of expectations for fans.

It's a combination of inconsistency from being young, trying to learn a new offense, and teams adjusting defensively to Yao. Hopefully things will come around sooner rather than latter.

When the team is hitting their outside shots, like against Atlanta, they look brilliant on the offensive end. The passing, the ball-movement, the unselfishness are all there. When they don’t, they look god awful. The problem is the outside shooting is so very inconsistent. When the shots aren’t falling outside, players begin to panic and abandon the offense completely to return to the stagnant ISO game. Steve and Cuttino begin putting on dribbling exhibitions, allowing the defensive to collapse on them. Meanwhile, the other Rocket players are just standing there watching.

As far as the defense, I’m not sure, but I think the defense has slowing been getting worse around the time Hawkins became a bench warmer. The perimeter defense has just been terrible. How many wide open shots did Allen Houston get?

I think our problem is that we are young and talanted. Believe it or not, too talanted. We have such a bright future that there is no meaning to today.

When we are up by say 6 points in the first half, there is no urgency to go up by 8. Why is 8 important, because then you can get up by 10. From 10 you can start to pull away. The Rox never have any concern about siezing an opportunity and putting the game away NOW, because they are so talanted they can do it later if needed.

Against Utah we were leading most of the game because we have more talent than they do. But we refused to pull away, and reduced the game to a close endgame. In the end, their smarts won out over our talent. We put orselves in a position to loose. I know it sounds stupid, but I think if we had a bit less talent, we would have worked harder in the earlier going because we "smelled" a chance for a quality win over a better team.

Until every single posesion has importance to us we will not win. Every forced shot we jack up proves we are not committed to winning.

My question is what will it take to make us play with intensity all of the time. I hope the Rox heard those boos loud and clear.

I think the Rockets biggest problem is that they get too comfortable with themselves. They play great against the top teams (Spurs, Kings, Sixers, Sonics) but then they get over-confident and struggle against teams like the Clippers and the Knicks.

    RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!

The coach runs the team (ah allegedly!!).

Rudy isn't running SH*T. And, if he won't run it, then we need to run him!!!
