As others have pointed out, pigs were considered filthy thousands of years ago and it made sense back then. Some people choose to still follow something that was written long ago and its their right to do so. I'm a Muslim and I was raised not to eat pork. Now occasionally I will eat it. A nice barbecued piece of pork ribs, or pepperoni pizza is hard to resist.
I think that whole 72 virgin thing was suppose to be 72 grapes. Gets lost in the translation though. Could be wrong though and prolly am.
The same reasons lots of religions prohibit and allow certain things. People were crazy 2000 years ago.
I'm a former muslim myself.... Just understand one thing and you will answer your own question. Religion does not make sense. Just like how alcohol is so evil that a Muslim cannot touch it.... it kind of proves that the religion has no scientific basis since they did not know that alcohol has antiseptic qualities.
I got invited to go, but I decided to meet my girlfriend in LA instead and take her to Disneyland. She just graduated. I really hope we bring it this year, I don't want a repeat of the Holiday Bowl... You going?
Here is the purpose Islam was created imo. Don't be offended because it is my opinion. It was one man's desire for power and his desire to remembered throughout history.
Or that raging alcoholics have a lower rate of heart disease than non drinkers. Alcohol is good for your blood vessels. Drunkards are bad for your economy, so it would make sense for a new government to ban alcohol consumption if it seemed that it was affecting productivity (e.g. causing low tax revenues). The ban on alcohol in Islam was a gradual process as revealed in the Qur'an. Islam is just as much a form of government as much as it is a religion. Pork was banned because it was deemed unclean. It's not the healthiest meat, and it is very high in fat. There are health reasons to avoid it (like serious risks of consuming undercooked pork, high fat content), but none are really serious enough to ban its consumption outright. They are still source of food. Although now that I think about it, pigs do not serve any secondary role like producing milk, eggs, wool, etc, so it would have the least justification in continued husbandry if you had to choose an animal.
sounds like a good time. Yeah, I'm going. I hope we make up for the late season collapse and come out strong and put on a clinic. I just hate making the trip and being all AZ'd out to only lose and have OSU inbreds talking trash. But it should be fun regardless. Zendejas better not F it up though or i will be forced to punch his boyfriend in the mouth
don't have a link or anything but i've also heard that pig meat is similar to human meat. i'm craving bacon
