The utter banality and crassness of changing championship uniforms to pajamas and making Dream and Drexler play out their years in those crappy duds has to get more play. I still have not recovered from that one. (And seeing Dream in purple wasn't as much of a shock as I expected because my sensibilities had already been bludgeoned by the PJs.)

Also, another pet gripe... Having a freaking soccer player on the cover of SI the week we beat the Knicks and just knowing that those bastards in the SI office would have splashed Ewing's mug all over the cover if the Knicks had won game 7. Anyone who has a subscription or buys SI at the newstand is dead to me.

I think Jack brought that good stuff over from LA after we kicked their asses.

I don't even like to be reminded of the Stockton shot. Makes my stomach churn and burn. I'm more disgusted with the officials over that one then even Karla. They should have had some gonads and blew Karla up on that one. Everybody knows a Hakeem Jordan series would have been epic........and we would have probably won.

I think the most devastating event/events though was the combination of Ralph's injury and the suspensions of Lew and Mitch. I know they aren't connected but those 2 events were 2 stakes through the heart of a baby dynasty that would have produced multiple championships.

Losing Lucas, Loyd & Wiggins completely drained me for a couple of years.

Then I'd say Hakeem moving north.

    And last, loosing Rudy T.

Think how devestating the Sonics sweep of the Rockets was....with the final game in overtime. Hakeem lost on home court...the CHamp run over - Seattle being able to say that the Rocket's rings were flukes only because they didn't play the Sonics those years.

That series changed our team...because of that sweep - gone were Horry and Cassell, and in came barkely. We'll never know if things could have gone differently.

I think if we'd have won game 4, we'd have a real chance. Clyde was getting over his badly turned ankle. Cassell finally was shaking the effects off of the elbow...and Hakeem was finding himself again. Horry was beginning to play like a mad man...the finally found themselves....

How devastating was that overtime loss?

Even if the trade for Sir Charles was bad (it wasn't) they would not have gotten Pippen if it didn't happen (which IMO was the real negative side effect of the trade for the Chuckster) because the only way they could get Pippen was that Barkley agreed to play for the vet minimum of $1 million (this also caused him to play for below market value the rest of his career).

Horry was amazing in that 4th quarter. It was a brilliant move by Karl to go to Schrempf in the post to get Rob to foul out. I've always absolutely hated the Sonics for that game (and '93).

For me, that game and Stockton's shot in '97 are tied for the worst moments. Cried after one and broke sh*t after the other.

Malone getting away with a bearhug has to be number one.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned:

    1. Passing on a Derek Harper for Brent Price offer the night of the trade deadline in 1997. Within 48 hours of this, Price blew out his knee. I can't help but wonder how having a legitimate point guard that year would have helped against the likes of Payton and Stockton...

    2. Barkley getting injured in game 4 against Utah the following year. Talk about a turning point - the Jazz went from having FEAR_IN_THEIR_EYES and facing certain ellimination and then rallied back to go all the way to the finals.

I don't think there is a more vivid picture in my mind of something that happened against the Rockets than Stockton's shot. That was absolutely crushing, and I can still see Malone's bearhug and the shot going in. From there on I don't remember anything other than Greg Gumble's voice.

I think it is a toss up between Rudy T getting decked or the cocaine obsession. Even though I was not around for this.

I don't think you can say a trade or some shot landing.

I mean it's your opinion you can say whatever the f you want. all I'm saying is every team can say "oh if we only drafted this guy" or "what if we would have made this trade." That is just part of the game. Everybody has those things to look back on. loosing three players in one season due to coke. That is a travesty.

Oh btw does anyone know where I could watch old game footage. Like say some of the 80's games. I have never seen any of those teams on the floor and would love to if possible.
