What is the best/free Antivirus I can install on my new laptop?

I use MSE, Malwarebytes, and Spybot. I used to work at Symantec and Trend Micro, so aware of at least a few of the vendors and offerings. I like lightweight and easy to use.

 

If you have Windows 8, MSE is pretty much integrated into the OS itself so no need to install it.

Download Malwarebytes and/or old school Spybot Search and Destroy 1.62 and do weekly scans for bad stuff. Just be aware if what you're downloading, clicking, or opening and you should be good.

 

Get:

1) Comodo firewall (firewall only, dont use any of their other stuff)

2) Malwarebytes

3) Be smart about surfing/downloading

...and you are good to go. I have built several PCs over the years and this is what I do/use with great success and recommend it to most folks.

 

Well, most consumer laptops have a glossy display hence the reflections and glare. The opposite of glossy screens are matte displays that are anti-glare and are mostly seen on business notebooks and some higher-end consumer notebooks.

The best you can do is to find the optimal angles in your room to avoid and light from reflecting off the screen or just turn off the lights completely.

 

Using Avast atm also. AVG turned out to be much of a resource hog.
