Don't think he would want to come back. Honestly he should have went to Miami instead of Houston when teams were hot for him. It would have been best for his career.

He did it because he liked our city so much. As a Houstonian, this makes me like Steve. He picked our city over his own career.

Steve went from starting all-star point guard to a player that is having trouble finding a spot on a team.

Those two are at least still starters and in the NBA

His fall is probaly closer to a Shawn Kemp, Penny, or Alan Houston

To be fair, he probably never should have been an all-star. Popularity got him on the team.

steve had three legit allstar seasons, two where he was only one of two players averaging 20-6-6, to be fair

If we are planning on tanking, we should sign him and start him so he can bring excitement and people to the Toyota Center.

Remember that year where he had like 21-7-6? That was pretty nasty.

    no terrible move

if anything let the young guys and rookies play to develop the much needed experience so they are that much more valuable for the 2010/11 season

A dumb move in retrospect, considering how we dumped him.

    Let me get this straight...

Player A - Short lived All-Star career that allowed minor injuries and a trade away from his best friend to completely derail his career. He's essentially retired after being released by one of the worst teams in basketball.

    Rockets fans want him back.

Player B - All-World type when healthy and motivated. Serious knee surgery performed ending last season early, but by all accounts is working hard to make a comeback months earlier than what is standard for the type of surgery.

Rockets fans actually want the door to hit him on the ass on his way out.

Minor injury? He tore at least 70% of his quadriceps muscle.

And when motivated? That shouldn't even be said. A player SHOULD be motivated. If he ain't, he got major issues. This team (Rockets) aren't the only one that witnessed that. Ask Toronto and Orlando. He didn't rehab hard after the surgery before the last one.

Motivation is your job, contract, money. People work. Some people don't like their work, but are motivated by the pay. Tracy gets 23 million dollars. There shouldn't be no, "when motivated" crap.

Maybe I understated Stevie's injury, but my point still stands. His NBA career is over, yet people want him back.

No one is saying Steve was better than Tracy. The difference between the 2 was that Steve ALWAYS left it all on the court. Tracy was hardly ever motivated.

    EXACTLY!

That's why a lot of people, including me, still love him and want him back in the NBA whether in Houston or another team as a player or something else.

For all his shortcomings, one thing people never questioned was his heart.
