Political cover so he can pursue a progressive agenda, and they happen to be damned competent, as well.

Well, it was a concept of change from the last 8 years. I say we're changing from the last 8 years.

It's annoying. It makes you wonder why we didn't just pick Clinton in the first place if Obama is going to recreate a Clinton Administration. We'll see how it goes.

i'll believe it when i see it.

people talking about how bush II's first term cabinet was 'moderate' fail to realize there were insane neocon hawks in it. there aren't any progressive/liberals in this cabinet.

I'm not going to give a point by point breakdown of the political inclinations of each of Obama's cabinet selections (and the rest), but I'll flatly say that Hillary Clinton is a progressive, and if you don't think so, you have blinders on, with all due respect. She's a progressive/liberal in the Jack Kennedy mold, which is one of the reasons I like her, except that on some issues, she's to the left of JFK. Take univeral healthcare. Clinton is to the left of Obama on this issue, and certainly Jack didn't think universal healthcare a possible or plausible possibility for the country. I'm not saying he didn't dream of it, because he may have, but Hillary has many, many years of avid support of a progressive/liberal approach to seeing that every American has access to affordable healthcare, and that it is a right guaranteed by the Federal government.

Both are shrewd and calculating. I also think these are moves to get some real change down...health care, energy, and perhaps foreign policy if to finance the other stuff.
