That proposed trade with Phoenix is TERRIBLE. Robin Lopez is not all that; he's a dismal rebounder with molasses-slow feet. If we really wanted him, we could get him for Patterson or maybe even Hill. You are vastly underrating Scola. Phoenix was willing to part with Amare for Scola + Battier. They'd be laughing their asses off if we gave him up for two scrubs in return.
No, maybe on paper that is Scola's value but no. Green is much younger and has upside, also Scola has a long contract that might scare teams away. Not only that you want a lottery pick in Aldrich? Can't see the Thunder doing that unless we are sending another one of our prospects over like Patterson. The OP post, that is closer to Scola's value imo. Scola is no superstar, and since his contract is what it is the most you are going to get for him are role players like Lopez or failed prospects like Warrick.
Rockets already have those and better but teams still don't want to give up a superstar for any package the Rockets put together.
Even when you rebuild, you don't give up a talent like Scola just to do it. In order to rebuild and be competitive, you've gotta keep your hustlers around. I don't know of many other players that work as hard as Scola. Sure, he has his limitations, but he goes to work every night, even if the Rockets find themselves in a 25-point hole. Scola is putting up great numbers, and he's relatively cheap.
I agree with you. People are so quick to say "trade Scola, trade Martin, blow the whole thing up" hoping that we are going to somehow become like OKC or Portland. It will take years to get back to respectability and a lot of luck to have players like a Durant or an Aldridge to fall into your laps.
Build around a one dimensional PF? I don't like the sound of that. We need a solid centre ( Hibbert or Nene ) and a closer, a star to finish out and ride out the 4th consistantly. No way in hell can Luis handle that pressure, nor Mart nor AB. This deadline i have my fingers crossed that Daryl is ever so active until the last seconds of the deadline! --------------------------------------------------------------------- MONTA ELLIS, ZACH RANDOLPH, NENE, JOSH SMITH, CARMELO ANTHONY
I can't believe Scola's name has been mentioned in a trade for Marc Gashole. The 7 foot dude was largely missing in action tonight, while Luis was busy helping to keep us in the game. Gashole played 39 minutes, had 3 turnovers, no blocked shots, and only one freakin' rebound.
I couldn't agree anymore with you....I honestly do not understand how can there be so much disparity between the Lopez twins considering they've played very similar careers throughout hs and college hoops.
Scola and Martin are our best. None of them should be included in any package that wouldnt return us an all-star. Morey is doin the right thing - He said he wouldnt trade any of the core unless it would be an upgrade. Scola+Brooks+filler for All star. Somthing along that line.
Scola is near allstar level. He could put contending team over the top or he could boost a losing team to respectable levels. He is real valuable to the Rockets. Without him we wouldnt be half as good. So we should get something good for him. I feel Robin Lopez is a trade down. Anderson Varajeao is a step down. Nene is even a step down except for his taller and a center. Scola is a better player than these guys. So for us to get some of these guys we would also have to get someone else back from them plus these guys. He is similar to Kevin Martin in value. I would say the closest equivalent would be David West of the Hornets and Scola are very similar.
I like this one, wouldn't mind throwing in Brooks if we can go from Cole to collision though. It's a Shame though since I like both players
