Robert Gibbs is suggesting he has committed a crime w/o evidence. because I think you are lying to yourself. You care if one candidate for a high lvl position in the federal government release their tax info but not another? Seems dishonest.
As you have gone from "accused" to "suggested" I will take that as you agreeing that no one is accusing Mitt Romney of a crime, so we agree and can leave that matter. My belief that the President of the United States of America is held to different standards than a congressman is dishonest? Hmm. You can hold that belief but that is not what this thread is about and I will not discus it any further, if you'd like to relate that to Mitt Romney withholding information that is commonly displayed, I'd be happy to debate the issue.
yes. incredibly dishonest. 'I care if my president tweets pics of his wiener, but if it's just a senator I'll still vote for him'.
Romney inherited wealth, privilege, and opportunity. I don't know if that makes him a criminal, but I do know it makes him a piece of ****.
Your arguments are getting more ridiculous and tangential. You were proven wrong about Romney being accused of a crime, then start on a tangent about how I somehow think it's ok for senators to send dick pics, you're starting to look silly, take a breather bud . Back to the issue http://www.google.com/hostednews/af...ocId=CNG.ec297f391a792bd48660443e4c0799a1.1c1 I don't understand how a man with a 250 million dollar fortune "has no idea where my money is"
You just said you don't hold them to the same standard? This is silly. Of course you do. Stop lying. I shouldn't have to spell this out for you but I will 'I care if my president is immoral/dishonest/unethical, but if it's just a senator I'll still vote for him because I hold them to different standards'. This is an absurd comment that you don't believe but claim you do.
You should have posted the whole quote Q So if he doesn't know where any of his money is (highly unlikely), how does he know they are legal and all taxes have been properly paid?
Great point. Things don't seem to be adding up here, which only furthers suspicion as to what is being hidden.
... Thadeus has stated his position on things for all to see. People who inherit wealth, opportunity and privilege are pieces of ****.
Tis true. I do believe this is a legitimate matter worth looking into though, and not as ridiculous as assuming the president wasn't American. Not doing what every other presidential candidate does, and having several offshore accounts doesn't raise a hair of suspicion for you?
It is a legitimate question to ask "why do you have bank accounts in tax havens?" Most of the motivation to do so revolves around keeping your money secret to avoid taxes. He could have said "I don't know specifically because if there is any money in tax havens it was put there by those running my blind trust, but I will confirm that or not." Then either deny they exist or justify the move with (one would think) a defense of the practice (why it is good and/or ok to do). Instead he's obfuscating the issue.
So asking a presidential candidate to verify his financial holdings and explain hidden tax havens is now considered a witch hunt. I guess we should have just started off with the important stuff like asking where he was born or if he really loves America.
This is real folks, and it's not going away... "The U.S. Public Interest Research Group estimates that offshore tax havens cost the U.S. Treasury as much as $100 billion a year. In 2010, "making up for this lost revenue cost the average U.S. tax filer $434 ... enough money to feed a family of four for three weeks," a USPIRG report found. In other words, if it weren't for Mitt Romney and his friends hiring armies of lawyers and accountants to find ways to reduce their tax bills, the deficit wouldn't be as large as it is." http://leanforward.msnbc.msn.com/_n...e-the-deficit-problem-he-complains-about?lite
As has been said multiple times in this thread, and elsewhere, asking Romney why he has offshore accounts, how much is in them, and to release his income tax returns are all perfectly legitimate questions to ask a presidential candidate. All the BS about "witch hunts" and "accussing him of breaking laws" is just the usual attempt at misdirection. They are legitimate questions, and Romney should be hammered about it until he tells the truth to the American people. He owes them the facts that if he wants to be the President of the United States.
Normally I would just say a president should be elected on his ability to lead and not how much off shore money he have, but the Repbublicans have made such a stink about every tiny bit of Obama's personal live that I would just say Democrats can do whatever they think will give them an edge. Politics is dirty business. No wonder no people with real talent want to be a president anymore. The founding fathers were the cream of the crop of the population back in the old days, today you will not find these type of talent in politics.
