Maybe he really want's Randolph and he doesn't see NY giving him up, for a pick , unless they really feel like there is competition for Carmello. With NJ all of a sudden having a ton of picks to throw at Denver (coupled with reports of Melo's all of sudden agreement to sign with NJ), NY could feel the pressure to acquire the a pick to even the offer.

The beauty is, we can now trade the NY 2012 pick back to NY for Randolph which would enable them to trade BOTH thier 2011 and 2013 picks in any Melo trade, which levels the playing field for them.

If this is the game Morey is playing, he trully is a manipulative genius and one hell of a GM when it comes to resource allocation.

McGrady + Landry for Martin + Hill + Jeffries + Williams + Randolph would be a SICK haul.

    All hail Morey.

What will be the next move in Morey's merry go round? Just keep rearranging the chairs with trade after trade after trade and so on, with nowhere to go.

This is all fine and dandy but at some point?? Role player tag has got to be removed from the next trade he does. The very next one or the one after at least. He has to eventually net something that gains us ground instead of stockpiling.

Melo, Wallace, or Iggy. Preferably in that order.

whatever star we are looking for, if we give up too many assets for it, we will still be a pretender, what's the point

can't believe some people are throwing all our best players for the melo man.....he is not worth it......

I think we should go hard after Wallace. I really like his game here. He fits with Adelman and plays defense. Jordan might bite on big scorers like Kevin Martin for him.

Terrence is vastly underrated on this board, that will change soon.

Williams shouldn't be included in that.. we traded our own 2012 1st rounder for him, which we did not get from the Knicks in the McGrady swap.

McGrady & Landry for Martin, Hill, Jeffries & Randolph would be what the final deal would be, under your hypothetical.

We're gonna trade a 1st rounder for scrub Hasheem Thabeet, and everyone on CF will rave about his potential and getting a young center.

I could be extremely wrong, but after trading a 1st for Randolph today, DM will make one last hard Melo push....... would not be surprised to see guys like Scola or even Martin being mentioned.

And I say this because no one talks about Melo to Houston, and we all know how Morey works, under the radar....

This or Morey already has CONFIRMED information about what Melo wants, and if that happens, I see us going hard after the only star that I can see out there that can be traded, CP3

GL Mister Morey, it is not going to be easy to catch THE big fish.

ha i agree, thabeet is a bust and is in the mold of darko millicic so i say hell no to him unless we can get him for something like a 2017 top 55 protected 2nd round pick or anything along those lines

No, that strategy is no longer viable, in my opinion. Collecting assets gives the Rockets a roster full of good young players, but no superstar to lead them anywhere.

What Morey has done is assemble a team capable of winning 40-45 games a year, and a system capable of constantly replenishing the core with more of the same, but what that means is a team forever mired in mediocrity, neither great enough to win a championship, or bad enough to draft a top five pick.

Welcome to the NBA's version of purgatory, Daryl Morey style.

His going to start the rebuilding process by trading some of the veterans on long contracts for young players and draft picks...

The point is...you nab the superstar because:

    1. NBA history shows you need at least one to win rings;

    2. We don't have one; and

    3. It's the hardest part to acquire.

You then acquire role players to fit with your superstar...not the other way around. You don't let the composition of role players on your team keep you from acquiring a superstar. That has "lottery/8th seed for years" written all over it.

Not a bad thought but I doubt that they give up their best player for Brooks and an expiring. I know they want a PG badly but getting Brooks at the cost of Gerald Wallace...

Alone, it doesn't sound like enough to get Wallace or Iggy
