I agree, if it were a John Wall or DeMarcus Cousins type player in stake. I'd really consider it, but not for this year's crop of players.

I'd rather keep the 14th pick or move up a spot or two, and wait to see what happens in the offseason with free agency or see what teams put what players on the market.

Will DM make a move for the 2nd pick now that Rubio is finally coming to Minny?

What's riskier? Trading Lowry for Rubio or Martin for Derrick Williams?

Normally I'd be all for trading for a top pick, but this year there is zero franchise player in the draft. The NO.2 pick will not turn out to be better than Lowry or Martin IMO.

    totally worth it.

the trade would be great NOT BECAUSE WE GET WHATEVER PLAYER IN THIS DRAFT, but because we get a great player AND GET TO START THE REBUILDING PROCESS, PAVING THE WAY FOR A GREAT PICK IN 2012.

Otherwise next year we'd be looking at, oh lets trade kevin martin for a 5th pick, which sacramento or whoever will say another big fat no again.

But Minny already has good players at SF/PF/PG... are they going to pick Brandon Knight to play SG or Enes Kanter to play C?

I don't care who they have. Derrick Williams, Ricky and K Love are great building blocks. They need a defensive wing player. I wouldn't mind giving up Lee for Randolph.

I see a problem with that, if I understand the facts: with no CBA, we can't make any trade, which makes this a wink-wink. It's one thing when you can actually make the trade a few days later, but it might be months before the trade can be legally consummated. Both teams would need Martin or Lowry, and their agents, to keep quiet about it for that time. I think this would then turn into a Joe Smith situation.

With the #2 pick, we would take Williams, not Kanter.

The consensus would be that Kanter isn't the player that Williams is, and DM isn't going to take a chance with such a pick. He's going to take the player that most likely will turn into a superstar, and that's Williams. Morey will then re-structure the roster, umm, some time in the future.

Since when does Morey go with a consensus pick?

Even if Morey could engineer a trade for the #2 pick, I wonder how far Kanter will fall once the doctors have a chance to examine his knees.

Haven't you heard? His knees checked out fine. Earlier reports were said to be false.

Martin, Scola, #14 and we'd probably have to take back one of their less than desirable contracts

Way too much! We're going to trade 41.8 ppg, 11.4 rebounds, and 5 apg from our starting lineup for a crap shoot? With all due respect, herro, don't be absurd.

If Golden State decides to deal Monte Ellis for the #2 pick, Houston, Cleveland, and everyone else will have a really hard time competing with that one. You almost have to give up Kevin Martin to be competitive with that offer and IMO

-Kevin Martin (elite SG)>>>> Enes Kanter (gamble rookie PF/C)

-If the Rockets do their homework, and they feel confident he's the next Blake Griffin, then Im on board, but we still haven't seen enough to know if its an even deal. If you want to draft him based on need.... dont.

Monta Ellis is the biggest ballhog in the NBA. Especially on a team just adding a PG who needs the ball in his hands to be effective (Rubio) and another chucker in the lineup (Beasley), Ellis is not going to catapult the Wolves into being anything more than a fringe playoff team at best.

And, yes, agreed on not trading Martin for the #2 pick (unless, perhaps, the Wolves also throw in Wes Johnson; but that's not going to happen).

    Speaking of Beasley...

Is it crazy to think about trading for him if the price is right (meaning cheap)?

The guy is an inefficient chucker so far, but has talent (reminds me of Carmelo Anthony with less of a clue) and might be made available if Minny adds Derek Williams with the 2nd pick since they have similar attributes (scoring combo forward).

With the right team around him, I think Beasley is salvageable and there are definitley worse ways to spend a roster spot (like giving it to Marcus Cousin).

Given Zach Randolph's success (and to a lesser extent, that of Kevin Martin, who was maligned as a stat padding loser), I wonder if Morey is thinking about taking a chance on an underachiever.
