I don’t consider Robinson and LeVert bad money because of the length of their contract. Robinson’s contract is also largely non-guaranteed so you could get off of it in 27 for pennies on the dollar. LeVert is expiring and not a bad bench piece. I’ll take expiring contracts and bad frp’s to get off of Durant’s cancerous presence. Sometimes you have to own up to your mistakes and take a step back even if it means we miss the playoffs next year. The off-season moves this team has made are an insult to the fan base.
I phrased that incorrectly so my point was unclear. It's not that they are absolutely "bad" money, it's that LeVert and Robinson are relatively bad money vs. a ~$25M trade exception, which could be generated if Detroit does a deal for a big contract today before the moratorium ends. That giant trade exception is significant positive value currency. Detroit pretty clearly set up their deals this moratorium for this purpose - trading out Isaiah Stewart for nothing in return, then Marcus Sasser for nothing in return etc. are very strange otherwise. I doubt they were targeting KD from the beginning, but pretty clear they were setting up to take in some star big contract this way (they were trying to get Kawhi, then Kyrie, etc.) in this structure. All I'm saying is that that window ends today, so if Detroit was going to make a push they would do it in this window they set up for themselves.
It never will be. These guys are acting like we had an incredible owner under cheap ass Les Alexander, but you know, it hasn't been our year for multiple decades. I've resigned myself that I unfortunately can't reprogram my fanhood so I am stuck rooting for mediocrity for the rest of my life. As they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day, so just like the Knicks and James Dolan, eventually our time will come again.
let’s keep our fingers crossed then. I’m not gonna get my hopes up because if Stone is holding out for three 1sts or some sort of lopsided return, a deal is not getting done. But we really do need to keep adding to our draft pick coffers. It’s the best thing we can do to keep building for the future. Keeping KD without contending is malpractice.
A KD trade hinges on a KD ‘demand’. Base/starting point of a Piston deal IMO = KD/Reed/Alpi - JD/Ausur/Tim Duncan Robinson
Stone always holds out for more, but it never materializes. Anybody remember Gordon. We are running it back with the awesome addition of Marcus Smart and Bogi, what a bunch of sh*t.
