You are reaching buddy. EVERY player wants to be THE guy, the smart ones know that what's best for the team doesn't always align with that want. So sure he would love to have more freedom, but I guarantee he would rather defer to better players and have more team success.
Dude, he wasn't asking to be THE guy. He was asking to play his role, which is being the Point Guard and a decisionmaker on the floor. But both Harden and Jeremy both play best with the ball in their hands, so thats hard to do.
But Lin would be willing to defer to better players for more team success as the other poster said. Lin also said in that interview that Harden makes the team more dangerous. If he was on a bad team then, he would be able handle the ball more, but probably will have less team success.
The guy, the playmaker, the whatever. When there is superior or even equal talent, players are going to have to concede some control. You obviously want him somewhere where he has all the play making control. I just happen to believe that a team that has Jeremy as the primary playmaker will have a much tougher time being elite, you obviously don't.
Jeremy Lin quote Rockets will be losing millions of endorsement from the chinese once they trade my ass!
I think Harden is the better scorer, but Jeremy is the better playmaker. I guess we can agree to disagree.
And the coaching staff who evaluates the team on a daily basis with decades of NBA experience disagrees with you.
I believe he can be the primary play maker on this team and we would be elite with Harden concentrating on scoring. Games were Lin took control play making playing along side Harden, was some of our more successful games.
I don't need decades of NBA experience to know that standing near the 3 point line and dribbling the ball for 10 seconds and then passing it to a teammate who is not open when there is two seconds left is not good playmaking.
I agree. I think Lin needs to be more confident in himself, and he also needs a coach who is more confident in him.
Teams are star driven so you have to cater to your star and teammates will have to defer. It would be interesting to see if Lin is traded to a team without a star to see how he and his team performs. I guess we'll see what happens in a few weeks.
A team that has Lin as the primary playmaker will have a tougher time NOT being elite, you need to get that through your thick skull.
