Anyone else notice that, once Yao took off his fingure tape, he seemed to have his old swagger back? His shots seemed smoother and "stuck" better to the rim - even when he missed. From the way he finished the game, I predict that Yao is going to have an outstanding performance in his next game.
If we can give Bonzi 20 min per game over the next few games while Chuck is out, we could be helping ourselves a great deal. With Hayes out, Battier is the backup 4, so I would like Bonzi rather than Snyder to take up the backup 2/3 minutes because there's a HUGE drop in rebounding at the 4 position.
2 notes here, just kinda general fyi for those that dont seem to know. 1) This isnt the first time Yao has ripped that tape off his fingers, he seems to do it inthe fourth when he has been having trouble geting shots to fall. I do think it affects him more than he lets on. 2) If you look closely, that isnt a "real" brace he is wearing now, it is more of a supporting sleeve like you wear on sore joints when you play pickup ball....with one diffeence, it has extra padding at the kneecap. carry on
Haha, that's the first thing I thought of after I said "Oh crap!". C'mon Hayesfan work some magic for us. Hayes was just really starting to shine!
J-ho is fine, he was still around the Houston's bench at the end of the game. Probably at worst a day-to-day
I saw him at my work today. I work at Bank of Texas at the downtown branch and he and Keith Jones came in to cash their checks. I asked him and he said that it was still a little sore but that it was fine. He was using his shoulders and arms like they didnt hurt so he should be back in a couple of days.
He was hitting jump shots. But the rest of his game is still off. He hasn't been a presence defensively or on the boards the last few games like he can be.
I'm not quite as on the ball as pryuen in the Ming thread... but Jonathon Feigen posted a bit of an update at the Chron
^^^^^^^^^ SOOO BONZI IS ACTUALLY TRAVELING WITH THE TEAM... thats one step closer for Bonzi to be back in the rotation baby!!!
Bonzi has to be more valuable then either JT or Vspan in the playoffs. Weird that JVG hasn't activated Bonzi despite all his hate for the guy.
who's McGrady gonna dish the rock to with his favorite target out these next couple games? McGrady's assists will be down to about 3-4 in LA.
I also hope Hayes is back at 100% soon. He's a guy we really need going into the playoffs. His defense, hustle, and rebounding are invaluable and as much as I like J-Ho, Juwan is best suited coming off the bench as our main bench scoring threat. Hayes, with a healthy Mac and Yao, is exactly what we need at PF (defense and rebounding, not so much scoring). I would also like to see Bonzi start getting some minutes. I don't want him taking any time from Snyder, but I think going into the playoffs we could really use 10 minutes or so from him a night. Not to mention the fact that if we meet the Spurs he could be a huge help.
