The Rocks really didn't keep Terence? I'm surprised. I thought he was making slow, but steady, improvement. Not a chance of a mistake on this report?

    Damn.

It makes no sense to lose T-Mo. He doesn't make all that much money to affect the cap or a trade, and it would be far more costly to replace him and probably for a player without his skills. There has to be something afoot. For the record, I want T-Mo on the Rockets.

How can it be far more costly too replace him? you said it yourself he doesn't make that much money. If its true he's not coming back, then its not going to be that costly to plug in a CBA type to play t garbage time minutes and score 3 points a game. I don't see it as a huge loss/gain whether or not he's around.

Here is a question: Who the f#ck cares?

We have bigger issues at hand than to worry about 6 pts and 4 rebounds leaving us....

Doughboy and Sleepy Jr. are better off on other teams anyways...

    Bring on the vets!!!

Morris had a 3 yr deal and is not a free agent if I'm not mistaken.

if you look up tmo on this site, it says the deal was for 2 yrs. I like the way he plays when he gets a chance.

The Rockets might not know when second-round draft choice Malick Badiane will appear on a regular-season roster, but the team confirmed Friday when he would wear a Rockets practice uniform for the first time.

Badiane, 6-11, who could play another season or two in Europe before attempting to begin an NBA career, has committed to play for the Rockets' Summer Pro League team next month.

Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson said the team likely will not decide whether it would prefer Badiane -- a 19-year-old who has played one season in a German B league -- to remain overseas until after the Summer Pro League in Long Beach, Calif., on July 6-20.

"He's come up very quickly," Dawson said. "I think with this last year of coaching, he's shown tremendous progress. There's an upside we think will be tremendously large."

Bostjan Nachbar, a first-round pick last season, also has committed to play at Long Beach, along with last season's second-round pick Tito Maddox and Rockets free agent Juaquin Hawkins.

Kyle Hill, a guard whose rights the Rockets acquired as part of the Glen Rice trade in 2001, also will play, as will Jason Miskiri, a former George Mason guard who was a childhood friend of Rockets guard Steve Francis' in Tacoma Park, Md.

Rockets forward Eddie Griffin is expected to practice with the summer league team but will be held out of the team's six games.

The Rockets also have until Tuesday to exercise their option to pick up another season on the contracts of Maddox and forward Terence Morris.

right on. I totally agree. I think this is what 4 years of the lottery will do to fans. I mean guys are getting all worked up over a player who plays with no passion and can not hit two consecutive jumpers in a row to save his life.

I have a feeling the Rockets drafted Morris to appease Francis, just like they caved in and gave Moochie 4 mil per year. Maybe the fact that they are not resigning his bro Morris means theres a new sheriff in town and Francis doesnt have as much clout as he did before.. which is great.

Has anyone actually taken the time to reflect on all possible aspects of this situation? Couldn't it be quite possible that the Rockets have no present intention of getting rid of Terence Morris? The Rockets are in a very favorable situation w/r/t Morris right now. With the CBA the way it is, much better players than Morris are going to be scrambling for scraps from other teams if they do not return to their former teams. We can safely assume that there is not a line around the block of franchises waiting anxiously to negotiate a deal with T-mo. NOT picking up the option on Morris is the ABSOLUTE BEST THING the Rockets can do right now.

If the Rockets decided to pick up the option on Morris (as many of you have already stated), they would have one more player in their logjam of mediocre to subpar forwards. HOWEVER, by declining the option on T-mo's contract, the Rockets can still have him play on the summer league team to see how he progresses. If he plays well and shows signs of improvement, THEN the Rockets can extend him a deal, almost certainly for the same minimum salary he was scheduled to receive under the option. BUT, if T-mo plays poorly or shows no improvement or even injures himself (a la Mo Taylor - hopefully not, though), the Rockets owe him nothing and can walk away without his salary counting against them.

You see, this moves makes all the sense in the world.

People really want TMo back now? Him and Collier both suck. TMo had his moments, but he is no better than a back up at best. Personally, I think it was one of the worst moves to trade him for a 1st round pick. What were we thinking. He hasn't shown the ability to be an impact bench player either. Think of Prince in the playoffs. He was an instant spark off the bench, and as a rookie. TMo hasn't done anything close to that. He wasn't even great his last season in college. It's better off to let him walk and find another reasonably priced role player, such as Steven Jackson, to replace him. We already have enough players at his position anyways. TMo just takes minutes away from other players that need seasoning, most notably Nachbar. Peace out TMo and Collier

No, I didn't take the time to think about it before since he's a garbage time player outside the rotation.

I don't understand why these Morris fans are crawling out of the woodwork all of a sudden. He was an adequate 10th or 11th man, and that's about it.

I didn't mean to say that this topic required much thought. I only meant that most of us who have even a PASSING interest in Terence Morris should consider why declining the option on his contract is a good idea. The process should take the average person about 2-5 seconds.

Well, the rockets are way more than T-mo's 500 k salary, which is the same as the vet minimum, over the salary cap anyway so who cares? If they want to keep him, it will cost them 500k udner either his old or a new deal, and even a rookie UFA in his place will only save them 100-200k under the cap. That's not enough to do anything tradewise in this league.

Just accept it TMo fans, he is gone, and will soon be forgotten like Kennard Winchester, Albert Burditt, and other meaningless second rounders. And even if he's not.....who cares?
