it's not simple. if it were simple, this would have been done away with a long time ago. it's complicated. you DO take peoples quotes out of context. that is plain and simple
So because slavery was tolerated for thousands of years throughout history, that means it's a "complicated" issue?
Huh? Are you disputing the fact that there are gay couples in this country who want to get married but can't, by virtue of their being of the same sex? Then it wouldn't be difficult for you to find a single example of my quoting somebody out of context, right? BTW, you might want to take a look at your own post before throwing the next stone (see above).
I have pointed it out in other threads. but, hey.....you're probably right. It's the other 10 people here that have brought it to your attention, not you.
Yeah, don't you get it, LSD? Bigotry against blacks is against the rules now. Bigotry against gays is still A-OK.
Glad that rambling made any kind of sense... For me its simply DONT FORGET ABOUT THE STRAIGHTS who still need work themselves in THEIR relationships and approach to family. Dont snub straight people in the process. Overall we seem to be at "Lets give gays a try!" without looking at the instituation as a whole, which can lead to more confusion on whats "proper". The other effect is gay people might indeed be a BETTER example of that. And make the screwball straight community take notice on how to marry and raise children properly. Though if I'm running a school that only has a 30% graduation rate as is gonna be underfunded, a newly proposed foreign exchange program is just stuff I'm not wanting to deal with. Nor do I feel my school HAS to have a foreign exchange program or English As Second Language program. Or I have to go attend some extra seminars on how to run those programs. Just going too much further away from the core. All in all, for me its actually Gay couple >>>> abusive, neglectful, criminal STRAIGHT couple or single parent ANYDAY.
nah, it's just weak to try and correlate the atrocities africans and african americans suffered with a person not being able to marry a person of the same gender.
ehh. unlikely. basic science should tell you that 2 men together cannot do what one woman can. Same for two women. forget religion.......mother nature has made it abundantly clear that man is made for woman. who cares what she thinks though. we humans are above that pesky mother nature.......right?
Really? Let's look at your quote again: Your claim is that since the issue has been around so long, it must be a complicated issue, and not a simple one. Slavery goes against basic human rights. The end. Simple. But it took humanity thousands of years to sort that one out. My analogy with slavery refutes your comparison by pointing out that the fact that something was around for THOUSANDS OF YEARS does not necessarily mean it is complicated. It may be simple, like slavery. That's as far as the analogy extends. IT WAS NOT A COMPARISON OF DEGREE OF SUFFERING. So, I ask you to answer this simple question: is slavery a complicated issue, or not? If it's not, then your own assertion that "been around long time = complicated issue" is WRONG. How is that so hard to understand?
Homosexuality has been in human nature well beyond recorded history. Your idea is framed upon the belief that social tolerance for homosexuals or even the discussion of it has opened some invisible floodgate. There are 7 billion people and counting. And if you're using pseudoscience to back up your claims, know that science enables the possibility of a self-sustaining homosexual society. Science=totally gay
Of course it's simple if you're not a bigot. Let me explain it to you: Gay people want to be treated like everyone else, instead of being treated like freaks. That is as simple as it gets. The only complication is that you would like to continue treating them like freaks (and, worse, even pass that hate on to your innocent kids). You=THE PAST. Your kids=THE FUTURE. Here's hoping they'll forgive you.
I can't let this go. Let me buy you a cyber beer. Apparently you were hiding a sensible person behind your many posts trying to shoot holes in someone's basing a belief on a religion. I formed my opinion based not on one post or thread, but several posts and threads over the course of months. Apparently it was wrong. One last rhetorical snipe back your way, intended to be a bit whimsical: Since you don't believe in a God, you never say Oh my God! right??
not allowing someone to marry a person of the same gender doesn't go against basic human rights. the end. simple.
It is a guaranteed right under our American Constitution that all people will be treated equally under the law. Let's be clear about this, because this is what you're against: You are against Americans being treated equally under the law. And you're teaching your kids this? You must be so proud.
only 3 posts untill you brought up my kids. not bad. but thanks for finally admitting what I have been saying this whole time. Your battle isnt about equality, it's about your ideology. Kind of bigot-ish. would you have any problems with me teaching my kids that athiesm is wrong Mr. Jones?
But they are being treated equally.......homosexuals can mary any one they choose, so long as they are of the opposite sex. Just like heterosexuals. same sex civil unions are afforded nearly every legal benefit as a heterosexual marriage. but you still want to be recognized as "married" because of your bigoted ideological ambitions.
