I think Dwight needs to work on his touch or the post moves will continue to be borderline useless. Or he can just forget all of that and concentrate on playing to his strengths. He doesn't need a post game to dominate.

yup forget all that. he should just keep working on his first step to blow by his slower opponents. he also needs to work on passing out of the post. once he gets the ball down there it's like a black hole.

EDIT: Just in case it was missed at the butt of the previous page, Dwight is working on his bball game right now while out of the country. He was working on his game just a few hours ago for sure.

IMO the passing is the most realistic and high impact change he can make. He is not going to get significantly better at FT shooting or post ups. He's not going to want to just stop posting up, and we still want him because his overall impact outweighs that little annoying thing about him.

Passing on the other hand - IMO with watching tape and getting coaching, I don't know if any previous team has put a significant emphasis on improving that part of his game so it could be that he's ripe for improvement in that area.

He needs to stop with the technical fouls, flagrant fouls, and foul trouble. That stuff he can control more than his free throws.

Can we stop talking about Dwight Howard's free throws? He's been in the league 10 years now, he's not going to magically start shooting 70%. People ask what a weakness is with this team. Well, this is it. Sad that our entire season could come down to Dwight's free throws. Any road to the finals goes through San Antonio and you know Popovich will use the strategy every game at random times, just to get in his head.

Really good point, I haven't thought about that. If he's passing out of the post with success, teams won't double team him as much and he'll be one on one more often, giving him the advantage.

I kept insisting that too. Didn't have time to scroll through the pages, but one thing stood out for me.... I remembered watching Dwight practicing free throws at game 2 vs Clippers towards the end of half time. I counted 20 of 22.... then he proceeds to miss his first two in the 3rd quarter in that ridiculous game where there were over 100 FTs shot.

There were reports about him shooting FTs fine in practice. Someone needs to get through that mental block in his head.

On the other hand, someone that gets criticized as much as Dwight. I'm sure he's posting what he's posting to show a human side to himself. Might as well post the enjoyable summer life. Otherwise, he just gets nothing but criticism anyways. The one year in LA and the Stan Van Gundy situation completely ruined his reputation, more than his FT ever will to anyone that's not in Houston.

I have a question. I've been hearing a lot of people hating on Howard. Not so much on here. Just when i'm out and about. Most of the hate comes from Rockets fans and i don't understand why.
I mean, he gives the team what it needs. He's averaged a double- double each season. Yeah his production has dipped but that is to be expected due to his injury history. I just don't get it.

Don't need knee issues popping up, just rest that Knee and hopefully Capela is the one working hard at the moment.. We don't need Dwight playing a lot of regular season mins.

Relativity Media’s Bankruptcy Filing Ripples Beyond Hollywood
Movie studio branched out into education, fashion and sports

Relativity Media LLC isn’t the first independent studio that bragged it could outwit Hollywood power players and then ended up in bankruptcy.

But it is the first that could cause problems for NBA stars, college students and a probiotic soda in the process.

That is because Relativity, which filed for chapter 11 reorganization Thursday, has branched out far beyond just making movies like the Bradley Cooper thriller “Limitless” and reality show “Catfish.”

The studio has survived for years thanks in part to complex financial structures arranged by its chief executive and founder, Ryan Kavanaugh. He frequently boasted that 11-year-old Relativity wasn’t just a studio but a “content engine,” as he launched divisions focusing on education, fashion and sports. Those businesses, according to the company’s strategy, would benefit in various ways from the movies and TV shows that Relativity produced. Marketing clients would see actors using their brands on the big screen, for example, while professional athletes could get reality-TV shows or fashion lines.

The bankruptcy filing calls that strategy into question for the company, which was unable to make debt payments following a string of box office flops and recent legal battles. Mr. Kavanaugh, in a statement Thursday, said Relativity, whose backers include Wall Street firms and supermarket magnate Ron Burkle, “continues to pursue its mission as a next-generation global media company.” Mr. Kavanaugh is staying on as CEO. As part of its chapter 11 filing, Relativity secured $45 million of debtor-in-possession financing and began a sale process it hopes to conclude by October. It plans to release two already-produced movies and continue with several TV shows.

Meanwhile, M3/Relativity, a two-year-old business that advises and incubates fashion ventures, was shut down earlier this week as Relativity Media laid off 75 employees. Among the unit’s efforts had been building a fashion line for the Seattle Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch.

Another offshoot of the business, Relativity Sports, represents athletes including DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers and Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets, as well as the Seahawks’ Mr. Lynch. Relativity Media owns between 25% and 30% of the agency, said two people close to the company. One of the people close to the agency noted that it has made a documentary on Mr. Howard and deals for mobile content on its own, separate from the studio, and that the strategy will remain viable regardless of the future of Relativity Media.

Still, in prior interviews, Relativity Sports CEO Happy Walters has said the agency’s connection to “a platform for content” was key to its strategy.

The one-year-old Relativity School, a for-profit, arts-oriented high school and four-year college, says it won’t be affected by Relativity Media’s chapter 11 filing. The school, nestled between a collection of soundstages in downtown Los Angeles, an area “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” was shot, had about 30 students enrolled in the inaugural class at the college last year and three at the high school. One hundred are expected to attend in the coming school year.

Nonetheless, some students are jittery. Robert Mosher, a 20-year-old film major from Long Island, N.Y., said students have been closely following news of Relativity’s financial troubles in recent weeks, wondering how it will affect the reputation of the name on their diploma.

“There’s that part of you inside—the business part—that looks at this and says, ‘This isn’t good,’” said Mr. Mosher.

Relativity Media licenses its name to the school and is a 36% owner, but the Relativity School hasn’t held back in marketing its Tinseltown connections to prospective students, promising a “curriculum developed by industry insiders” at “the first and only school of its kind created with a major Hollywood studio.”

Both parts of the Relativity School are affiliated with more established institutions—the high school with the Manhattan-based Dwight School, and the college with the Philadelphia-based Hussian College—that tap the studio’s resources for everything from guest lectures to movie premiere tickets.

With rumors swirling of an imminent bankruptcy filing, Glenn Kalison, the president of Relativity’s education division, sent an email to students on Wednesday saying: “Please rest assured that Relativity School is an independently capitalized, separately managed entity and this will NOT impact our school operations, finances or strategic plans.”

Melissa Morgan, the president of Hussian College, said the school’s board of directors hasn’t discussed whether to change the Relativity School’s name.

The studio plans to continue its marketing business Madvine—a combination of Madison Avenue and Vine Street—said a spokesman, although CEO Danny Stepper said he recently left in connection with Relativity’s financial woes.

Madvine frequently leaned on Mr. Stepper, a former Coca-Cola Co. and Anheuser-Busch executive, to integrate beverage brands in Relativity productions. The Relativity website says that the studio has equity stakes in several brands, including a probiotic soda and an aloe water, incubated by another company owned by Mr. Stepper.

Madvine’s cooperation with Relativity’s entertainment business wasn’t always seamless. During the last week of production of the unreleased Zach Galifianakis comedy “Masterminds,” Relativity executives demanded that the filmmakers find a way to integrate Kahlua liqueur into the film, said a person involved in the movie. That is much later than such a request would normally come. Mr. Galifianakis and the movie’s director, Jared Hess, ended up creating a scene in which his character spills the drink.

The last-minute request to include a liquor brand also was surprising, this person said, because Mr. Hess is a Mormon and attempted to keep the PG-13 film relatively family-friendly. A spokesman for the agency that represents Messrs. Galifianakis and Hess declined to comment.

This whole thing about him shooting FT's better in practice is baloney. It's all based on this:

Everyone shoots better in practice. Dwight is still the worst free throw shooter on that board. It's not unusual that he hits 82% in practice. It's practice. Doing it in games is more difficult. It's obvious that the difficulty is hard wired.

He has the devastatingly unfortunate combination: aversion to pressure and ultra strong shoulders.

Ain't going to change until his FT% is inconsequential and stops being talked about.

The good people of Reddit started a witch hunt today, accusing Howard of PED usage. Key evidence is his shoulder photos from Orlando days.

He doesn't need to work on post moves. He just needs to work on not getting the ball stripped when he makes those post moves.
