AB, saw the vid :) Good career choice.

You look like you were enjoying yourself on stage, which can not be said for all comics.

Ever hear of Shawn Majumber? The guy is hilarious. I believe he's been on Just for Laughs a few times, too. :)

Puns are sort of a guilty pleasure for me. I love them! They're so punny.

I can laugh at pretty much any type of comedy, really, from the societal barbs of Seinfeld to the utter silliness of Kevin Meaney.

My least favorite form of humour is probably political satire (not a big fan of 'This Hour has 22 Minutes' or 'Air Farce').

    I agree completely.

Jeff Garcia did some pretty funny stuff last week (mostly on race)only to run out of steam last night. They all sucked to me.

I'm no comedian (I'm only funny looking), but seems like amateurs go for the racial jokes because it is an easy thing to make fun of. More accomplished comedians like yourself probably would limit only a small percentage of material on that.

ComicView, while funny once in a while, wanted to replace Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam. They are not even close. What's with the dancing girls?

I prefer the Comedy Channel's Premium Blend. I saw Wanda Sykes on the Comedy Channel the other day. She was hilarious!

Robin Williams is my favorite. A few weeks ago he was on Inside the Actor's Studio and he was just amazing. During the interview he must have created like 100 different characters and stuff. At one point, he took a scarf from a woman in the front row and just kept doing little skits (probably at least 15) all revolving around the scarf. Dude is crazy.

Other people I find very funny...

    Dennis Miller
    Sarah Silverman
    David Chappelle
    Ced the Entertainer
    George Carlin
Eddie Izzard (only saw him once on HBO but freaking hilarious)

AB, how do you like Dame Edna? S/he tells stories and then starts improv-ing jokes off audience interaction. I've never seen anyone create jokes that well, and s/he will recall everyone's name and starts juxtoposing them against each other as she builds more material on the fly from audience interaction.

I saw her during her Allison visit. For those who like creative wit, s/he's the champ from my limited exposure to stand-up.

I don't think you will need AB's assistance for that.

A divine post, SJC. But actually, you never know about some people... MoBalls could be a moniker chosen to put a brave face on a very sad personal situation. :p

Oh man, you've got to be kidding. She's the most sophisticated and envied women in the world.

And here's some pictures of Dame Edna hobnobbing with World History.

This is Dame Edna meeting the Queen of England.

heypartner, what can I say? If you think Dame Edna is funny, you would really enjoy the night life in San Francisco... more than I do, anyway.

We need a rim shot icon. :D

fadeaway: is he that young guy from Montreal? There was a Newfound comic on Madly Off In All Directions on CBC 1 yesterday who was hilarious. I missed his name but he was good. I like This Hour Has 22 Minutes and used to really like Royal Canadian Air Farce but I don’t find them as funny anymore. They aren’t quite a clever as they used to be, I don’t think. Have you ever seen Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers? I hear they’re pretty funny, and they’re coming to Calgary this year.

See? You graduated past that! ;)
What limited stuff I have seen of yours is much funnier than any of the stuff I saw on Def Jam ...

Agreed, if you watch his early stuff, he was much more hilarious than he is now, but I still love his shows and will watch it anyday..

I cant make a judgement on that, but he cracks me up..

Total agreement there!..I absolutley LOVE Dave Chapelle...he is my favorite of any of the new comics out today..

I dont think so, but then again, I am weird...so maybe im blinded to that aspect of his personality...:D:p

First, no comedian, ever, was as funny or as important than Bill Hicks. So sad he died so young.

But there are other funny comics. Lately I like Mitch Hedberg and David Cross. David Cross finally played here a few months back. He was pissed about Bush and the new patriotism and when the crowd didn't go for it he blew off the comedy and spent the rest of his set telling them what idiots they were. I was there cause he was dating a friend of mine and she'd asked me to show him around while he was in town. Drank and partied with him and his opener til about six in the morning. They were good fun. Steve Martin and Richard Pryor are the old reliables. George Carlin was awesome and has fallen mightily.

I saw a funny comic on one of the late night shows about a year ago, but I can't remember his name. He wore a tux and noodled around on the piano and spoke softly into the mike. Here's one of his jokes. If anyone knows who he is, post his name here.

One thing I like to do is go to the video store. I like to go to the video drop off box and stick my penis in that box and say to the help, "Have you seen this? Is it any good?"

I don't know where he lives now (LA I think), but Shawn Majumder is from Baie Verte, Newfoundland. He's getting pretty famous; he co-hosted the 2000 East Coast Music Awards with Natalie McMaster, and is now apparantly working on 'Cedric the Entertainer'. He looks a little bit like Reza on '24'.

Many times. They're okay. Most people around here love them.

Not the guy I was thinking of. I’ll have to watch out for him though. Sounds like he’s pretty good.

Speaking of 24, did you know that many of the main actors on that show are Canadian? I think some of the writers and producers are too. Just some Saturday morning trivia for you. ;)

    Kiefer Sutherland
    Leslie Hope
    Xander Berkeley
    Elisha Cuthbert
