He doesn’t have one. The Rockets are too deep and he doesn’t play the necessary way to have a role on a contending team. Hopefully, he still carries positive value around the league because he needs to go to a rebuilding situation where he can just play. I would be very surprised if he’s a Rocket next year.
Yeah. I think his body language tonight sealed his fate. He is history with the Rockets. Did ya’ll see the incredulous look on Ime’s face when Cam just casually fumbled his way through the last minute or so? He is gone, gone, gone.
No it's not. It's spot on. He's a lazy ballhog with an attitude problem. Just because you like him doesn’t mean anything
This is why cam fell in the draft. I know he thinks he is good but if the team is wanting you to play a certain way that they think is better for the team you have to do it. Hell Jabari should be the one mad cause he was starting and now comes off the bench and should be featured more when he is on the court in the midrange. I like cam but the way he played at the end was it for me. He shouldn’t see the floor again this whole playoff run
As a stock trader myself I always follow the principle of buy low sell high. Cam Whitmore stock right now is at its lowest so why are you gonna package him as a throw in? Thats the opposite of sell high you are selling low. Cam is on a great contract and even when he hits free agency Rox can make him a restricted free agent. No reason to trade him its not like he is out there throwing basketballs at people. You see him standing up and clapping and throwing the "3 sign" up so its not like he is a malcontent. Its the same thing as Jabari if he doesnt play nobody else will give him a big offer and Rox can retain him for cheap. Theres no downside to keeping him having him on the team is more valuable then using him as a throw in somewhere. I remember when Suns "threw in" Toumani Camara to the Blazers or Dallas got rid of Quentin Grimes just for kicks. How did that turn out for them? If a dude has a high ceiling even if you arent using him its just dumb to trade him away when the return is insignificant.
People read in anything in a blowout win are a joke, and probably worried that Cam might take the shine from their favorite player. Go Rockets! DD
Cams future depends on what moves are made this summer or injuries next year if everyone is back. -If the rockets add to the back court and wing positions… he likely needs to be moved this summer. -If the Rockets are status quo this summer… I’m okay keeping him knowing injuries are likely and knowing FVV and Brooks aren’t getting younger. -If the Rockets make a big splash and a trade happens it could be likely that our depth is affected and I like Cam being here to fill in for the minutes. If Cam turns out to be garbage in that new rotation, you can always upgrade at that point in another trade but you have a good talent to plug in if you do want to do a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 trade for a star player this summer. It’s a good summer to keep Cam and Reed for that possible scenario. Most likely what happens is status quo… and in that case I’d like to keep him but be open to trading him as well if there’s anything of value out there that’ll be more useful that what he brings.
cam's issues are his own, blaming him for the bench sucking and proving to everyone why Ime is right not to play your favorite player is not his fault.
He's not taking shine away from anybody. Ime doesn't play him. Why make excuses for him? He certainly doesn't deserve it. I don't see making excuses for Jalen and you shouldn't. He's been awful outside of one game.
Cam doesn’t seem to realize that appearances do count for something. Right now he’s giving off a Terrence Williams type of vibe. That’s not a good thing. I think the sky is the limit for Cam, but he needs to understand that he is still very raw and has much to learn to be a complete player. Every minute he’s on the floor he needs to be engaged and playing hard on both ends of the floor. Prove to Ime that you should be getting more minutes. Is this the way Cam looks in practice also, that may explain a few things. I’m still very high on Cam, but he has to do better.
Yeah, I think he's finished here. Hopefully we can get a protected FRP for him, or he can be part of a package for a useful roleplayer.
