What is Cam Whitmore's future with the Rockets?

To Ime’s credit, at least he trusted Tari and Jabari over Tate, Holiday, and Jeff Green.

I could totally see a world where Adelman, McFail, Silas, etc. don’t even play those guys down the stretch of the season and playoffs.

You guys forget Morey had to literally trade starters and rotation players just to get prior coaches to play ANY of the young prospects.

Yes it sucks that Reed had to red-shirt and Cam only got a couple stints… however the overall experience with this Rockets team is that it is a young team with prospects all getting a chance…. Some more than others yes but it could be a hell of a lot worse. At least we kinda know what Cam and Reed can and cannot do, and know what they both need to work on this summer.

I could see Cam here next season for sure and getting steady minutes off the bench in a 6th man type of role but I also could see him getting traded. Just really depends on other moves to clear PT for him.

 

Cam doesn't belong in the league until he grows up. Blaming it on coaching is ridiculous.

 

Ime played Jabari under 20 minutes a game including a paltry 12 minutes in Game 7. I'd hardly call that trust.

His future is very salvageable. Ime is not a good developer like many defense first coaches.

 

If I were him, I would want to get out of town. Clearly, he is not going to get a serious shot at playing here. I think he has star potential in the right situation. Yes, he can't spell defense, yes, he can't spell pass, but he can score. And jump high. He can be fixed.

 

I think Amen and Alpi have developed very well. Tari too. Jabari to a lesser extent.

 

If Cam was given playing time then he might have developed more. I think he's starter material if given the chance. It's easy to see who should go to get Cam playing time. All of the talk about immaturity is so overblown.

 

Alpi got worse, Jabari lost playing time, Amen is better but team got worse with him starting over Jabari, maybe Ime isn’t all that great at figuring out who should play.

Or maybe he is. The Rockets have increased from 22-41-52 wins in his 2 years.

It is so hard for you to give Udoka any credit. Rockets are lucky to have him.

 

I think we were lucky to have him for the re-build. His defensive acumen and culture building is outstanding. I’m not sure fans will fill so lucky when they see a re-signed FVV and the league adjust to the same tired offense next year. We can sign shooters or replace Jalen with a better player, but as long as FVV is playing 35-40 mins this offense is going to be stuck in mud and Ime has shown no signs of being flexible when it comes to offense or rotations.

 

He doesn't like it when they don't play his favorite players. Plain and simple. He's always wrong anyways so Ime is doing something right

 

In this instance he's right though. Ime is a complete moron when it comes to who to play.

He intentionally starts 3 of the least efficient scorers in the entire league alongside Amen who can't shoot and Sengun who is a center.

That is basketball malpractice.

 

I love Ime but it’s hard not to see it as the typical Thibs team where effort and playing the reliable players only gets you so far. You have to have some offensive acumen and develop some guys with higher potential than Dillon Brooks, etc. Happy about where we are, but I think we will eventually move on to go to the next level in a couple years.

 

He is a good coach but I have seen him outcoached far too often to think he is a great one.

And my standards are not regular season wins, but playoff performance - aim higher!

and the fact that we had absolutely no half court offense. I've said it repeatedly.

Well I'm 100% with you on Green. Unfortunately we might not be moving away from him. I never wanted Brooks in the first place. FVV we might be stuck with too like Jalen unless they're part of a trade. On Amen I don't think he'll ever be able to shoot. Ausar and he lived in the gym and neither can shoot. Sengun is a weird case. He's our best player but he's a tweener.

I don't see anything in Cam. He's, lazy, he doesn't listen and he only cares about himself. It's why nobody really wanted him. We took a flyer. I do agree on Reed
Grossly mishandled this season

 

I think Cam is probably doomed due to his immaturity and attitude problems.... but he also landed worth the absolute worst type of coach for him to deal with.

Ime's arbitrary and so very often completely incompetent player management brings out the worst in immature players with attitude problems.

He might have success elsewhere, but no chance Cam does anything under Ime.

 

Rockets digest on YouTube is saying that he is hearing a rumor that fvv, cam, this years pick and the 2028 pick for Ja Morant and Jay huff.

not sure what to think about it.
