We already have Novak. Why would we want Morrison even if we traded Novak for him when Novak already knows our system?
We can all pretty much agree Morrison looks like a huge bust. Still, he's only played one season and that isn't enough to judge a guy. If he's been working hard on his game and health, it's still possible he could end up being an NBA rotation player. I wouldn't do a trade with Charlotte because if he's dedicated and working hard to return, they will want too much for him. If he's a slug and a definite bust, we don't want him. Leave him be. I wouldn't be surprised if Morrison never signs a 2nd NBA contract.
To go on a tangent, I don't get the fascination of hiring ex nba players to be your GM. Michael Jordan Steve Kerr Kevin McHale Danny Ainge Danny Ferry Chris Mullin Jon Paxson The only successful player-to-GM stories I can think of are Joe Dumars and Jerry West.
So what is he now, a poor man's Wally Szczerbiak or even worse? It's hard to get a feel for the guy when you haven't seen him play in well over a year. I'd venture to say his value is pretty low, to answer the question.
Nobody is suggesting what Charlotte would possibly take for him besides one poster throwing out the #18 draft pick. Some of you are suggesting we trade trash for him or throw them Novak, Luther, etc. If we could send Charlotte an expiring (Luther) and a draft pick, I'd be interested in that deal myself. Don't know if that would be enough for Charlotte.
jordan is part owner, and also I don't think he's been that bad in charlotte, its an expansion team remember, the team is what, 4 years old.
He's probably still better than Novak. At least Morrison can get his own shot. Have we ever seen Novak create his own shot? Aside from the basic pump fake & side step that's about all i've seen from him.
Successful: Dumars, West, Bird The only unsuccessful ones: Jordan, McHale TBD: Kerr, Ainge, Ferry, Mullin, Paxson, Isiah Somewhere in the middle: Isiah (as a GM, not a coach) Your quote is misleading...yeah there haven't been a ton of success stories, but some of these guys are on the cusp of success at least.
Of those, I think only Jordan, Kerr and McHale have been "bad" in an unqualified sense. Further, it's probably too soon to judge all but McHale. The rest have def. improved the teams they inherited.
Isiah is somewhere in the middle? Not only do I disagree, I'd go so far as to say he's arguably the worst GM of all time. There are other player GM's not being mentioned here too. Pat Riley and Elgin Baylor come to mind.
Isiah has been a good drafter but otherwise most of his player moves have been abysmal, to put it mildly.
