I dont know if this in the right forum, but in all the years ive followed and played ball, I never knew what a team rebound is. Anyone care to explain what it is?
I think a team rebounds refer to any rebounds gotten by anyone on the team. Yao: 2 defensive rebounds, 1 offensive Swift: 3 defensive = 6 team rebounds for the rockets..
Team A misses a shot and then the ball goes out of bounds. Team B has a team rebound and possession of the ball.
basically a team rebound is a rebound that can't be credited to one player (someone gave the out of bounds example; or a ball hitting the top of the backboard or an air ball that goes out of bounds) All missed shots (i think) have to be accounted for in the scoring and team rebounds help equal that out also, i might be wrong (and probably am), but I think a team rebound is also a rebound that first hits the floor before being touched by a defender
Nah, rebounds can be had after they hit the floor. Lots of them do that especially on long 3 point shots....person that gets possession is still credited with a rebound. DD
Chick Hearns used to answer this question at least three times every season. It is clearly something not all fans are familiar with.
