They spend their time believing Trump lies, Being Bigots, looking to attack government officials, and licking Trump's nuts.
MAGA is just a catch phrase Trump came up with to sell hats, flags, Trump souvenirs, and con people into believing he cared about making their lives better when he was just looking for his next big grift. His followers and supporters are a mixed bunch. Gun lovers, racists, hate groups, rich white country club folks, rednecks, oil company owners, gun sellers, greedy rich white collar criminals, die hard Republicans, and church people who don't see the irony in how Trump could care less about the poor, the ill, and those in need. I'd say many of the decent people who stand with Trump are just gullible as hell, but most fall into one of those categories. Some are just die hard Republicans who haven't seen how drastically their party has turned into a bunch of selfish, twisted, cruel, ignorant, unqualified, racist, and corrupt people who don't have the integrity to stand up against Trump's evil ways.
Someone who believes and acts like Democracy is only for people who look like them and believe what they believe. Someone who believes the preservation of their “culture” is an existential threat. Also see: Delusional, Cult, Grand Conspiracy, Authoritarian, Bigot.
Okay let me make it more clear: This is a person who believes the preservation of their culture is an existential threat. …. The acronym is short for “Make America Great Again”… which isn’t an implication about bringing America back to any sort of period of time from a structural standpoint. They aren’t advocating going back in time where the internet didn’t exist. They aren’t advocating for the rollback of automobiles. They aren’t advocating for rolling back Medicare or social security. It’s about their “culture.” You know this and are just trolling or dim witted but I’m saying it anyways.
that still doesn't make any sense. there's gotta be a word there missing. why would the preservation of someone's own culture be an existential threat? a threat to their culture would be an existential threat. or am I simply misunderstanding the point?
I use the word preservation because in reality they have no lost anything. Nobody took away their nascar or their church or their beer. Its more about their perception of what they think they have lost or are going to lose.
I guess I would rephrase that as seeing the "erosion" of their culture as an existential threat. at least to me that more accurately conveys what I think you are trying to suggest about the MAGA phenomenon and more in keeping with a sort of everyday sociological understanding of such social movements
Sounds like you are parsing your own interpretation of what MAGA means to you. I think most people understand the connection between MAGA and cultural whatever you want to call it. Either preserving that 50's Hill Valley lifestyle they think they have in their community that they think the libs are coming for, or getting back what they think they've already lost (maybe football??... even though they canceled that themselves). It's about the perception of their own culture either way though. A perception that is fed delusion through lies and propaganda. Yes the world changes people... but it doesn't mean that you've lost something at the scale that deserves tearing down the fabric of our Democracy over. MAGA perception is one of a zero sum game. A very sick and twisted cult that has victimized America all for the sake of power and money for a few people who look down on those they are deceiving. It's really not that difficult to understand.
I got that from his first post regarding preservation of culture. I guess either my reading comprehension skills are supurior or you are being unnecessarily pedantic. I hope it's the former because that will boost my self-esteem.
by the way, did you know that in Teluga, salmon are called MAGA. So I guess if you catch a fat salmon in India, that's a MAGA type
